So faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of Christ. Romans 10:17 ESV
We lead very busy lives. I get it. There are days when I have no idea how I will complete everything on my to-do list. This is why I choose to spend time with Jesus first thing in the morning. When I start my day with Him, it just seems to make my day go better. And even when it becomes one of those days where you wish you’d stayed in bed, I know He’s there walking me through it.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be provided for you.” We often worry about what we will eat, what we will wear, or how we will handle certain situations. But here Jesus tells us to simply put God first, and He will work these things out for us.
Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Even when we put God first, and we still go through difficult times, we can know that God has a reason for this and He is working it all out for our good.
So, the question is, do you have time for Jesus? Do you take time out of your busy schedule for Bible study and prayer to communicate with Him daily? Is He the first one you turn to in times of trouble? Is He the first one you praise and thank when things are going well?
If we don’t have time for Jesus, there will come a time when Jesus doesn’t have time for us. There will come a time when Jesus simply gives us over to whatever it is that we put in front of Him.
Jesus tells us that if we deny Him before others, He will deny us before His Father in heaven in Matthew 10:33. And in Romans 1:18-25, Paul says that if we reject God, we will finally reach a point where He will give us over to our own sinful desires.
I understand trying to cram 30 hours’ worth of stuff into a 24-hour day, I really do. But what I also know is that I wouldn’t want to face a single day without feeling God’s presence throughout the day. I want to start the day seeking Him with all my heart because only He knows what I will face on any given day. I want to study His word because this is how He speaks to me, and He always has good things to tell me. He also has much-needed instructions for how to handle the bad stuff that is apt to come my way.
I don’t have to put prayer and Bible study on my list any more than I have to put getting out of bed on my list. It’s just something that I want to do first thing. I want to pray to God before I go to sleep. I sleep better knowing He’s got this.
And all through the day, there are times, even when I am running through a busy list of chores, that I still speak to Him and acknowledge Him.
All these things we do, we should be doing as if we are doing them for the Lord. Whatever we do in our busy day, we should do to the best of our ability as if we are doing it for the Lord and not for human approval. We should acknowledge Him in all we do. Be sure that what you are doing brings glory, honor, and praise to Him.
There will come a day when we will be judged for the things we have said and done here on earth. This will determine where we spend eternity. Why would Jesus want to spend eternity with someone who never had time for Him while they lived on earth?
Make time for Jesus. Spend time with Him each day, and you will find that you have time to do whatever else He calls you to do.
Have a great day!
