Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in the past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 NKJV
You may think you can hide who you really are, but not for long. Eventually, the truth comes out, and our true colors begin to show. If you consider the rather extensive list in our Scripture passage, you will realize that things become evident, if not right away, with time.
We often think that we hide our fleshly desires from others, but they aren’t hidden as well as we believe they are. Several verses tell us that hidden things will be brought to light. Ecclesiastes 12:14 says, “For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.” In Matthew 10:26, Jesus said, “Therefore, do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed and hidden that will not be known.” Luke 8:17 says, “For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light.” And Jesus said in Luke 12:2-3, “For there is nothing covered that will be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore, whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the rooftops.”
If you are trying to hide or cover up your sin, know that it will be revealed. Confess it and repent. Ask God to strengthen you against temptation.
If you are walking in the flesh, heed what our Scripture passage says, “You will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Turn to God. Trust in Him and surrender your life to Him.
If you are pretending to love the Lord, but are dedicated to your sinful ways, it will be evident or obvious. If you love the Lord, this will also be evident or obvious.
Many of us try to hide our sin from those around us, but my friend, we hide nothing from God. He knows all and sees all. Do you think He’s happy with the way you are living your life? I hope you were able to answer “yes” to that question, but if not, know that He can save you. You can turn to God. You can stop conforming to this world and be transformed. You can have your mind renewed and prove what the good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
God wants us to exhibit the fruits of the Spirit. He wants us all to be with Him for eternity in heaven. Yet He gives us free will. It’s our choice to make. If you are serving the flesh and walking in the flesh, it will be obvious to those around you. You are not hiding your sin from God. He can help you turn things around if you will only ask.
It’s your choice to make. I pray that you choose wisely.
Have a great day!
