For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.

When we travel, it’s always nice to come home. No matter how luxurious or exciting our trip may be, it’s good to get home.
It’s important to remember that while we are here on earth, we are just traveling. We are passing through on our way to our heavenly home.
We talked recently about preparing for our journey. I want to talk today about coming home. We talked recently about not becoming too entangled in what’s going on here on earth.
We should not get too upset over the news and what is going on in this world. Jesus warned us that we would have trouble in this world in John 16:33, but He also gave us the assurance that we should not be afraid for He has overcome the world. This isn’t some luxurious trip, the way home is a difficult road.
He has paved the way on this narrow road we are expected to travel.
I can remember years ago when I was looking to buy or build my forever home. I considered several different locations, but the one that made the most sense was my home. It was my family property.
My parents built their home on that property. My mother was born on the same piece of land where she died. She loved to travel, but she also loved coming home.
The most important decision of your life is where your eternal home will be. Your actions here on earth will determine this. It’s up to you to choose where you will spend eternity.
Realtors will tell you when you are buying a home that the most important consideration is location. The same holds true for our eternal home. Do you want to live in a fiery furnace where you will be tortured day and night or do you want to walk on streets paved of gold?
It would seem like a no-brainer, but many choose the fiery furnace. I think the reason for this is because it’s the broad and narrow way.
When we travel, we tend to like to be out on the open road. When driving we tend to take interstates over the small, narrow, winding backroads.
When we consider our travel getting from earth to our heavenly home, Jesus told us we must take the narrow gate and the difficult road. We must take the route less traveled. He also warned that few will find their way in Matthew 7:14.
In Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus warns that many will say to Him, “Lord, Lord” but not everyone who says this will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of His Father in heaven. For those who do not do His Father’s will, He warns that He will say to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!”
None of us expect to be welcomed into a stranger’s home to live out eternity, but we expect to deny Jesus while we live on earth and for Him to welcome us into our heavenly home when we die? Sadly, it doesn’t work that way.
We came from heaven. God determined when we would be conceived and who our parents would be. He knew us before He formed us in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5). But He doesn’t make us return to heaven, that’s our choice. We can come home to Him, or we can choose to travel into eternity via the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).
It’s important that we decide where our forever home will be now. It’s important that we establish a relationship with our Lord and Savior if we want to spend eternity in our heavenly home.
He wants you to come home to Him and He will welcome you with open arms, but you must surrender to Him here on earth.
Eternity is forever, where will you spend it? Trust me, it’s best to decide now.
