The Bottom Line

And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water as a gift to the thirsty from the spring of life. The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars-their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.  Revelation 21:6-8 HCSB

I’ve become very frustrated lately with some of the ads you see in news leads when you open your internet. Amazingly, all you have to do is speak of something, and ads for it will begin popping up on your Facebook feed.

I’m not frustrated because people are placing ads to sell their products. I understand the necessity for this. I am frustrated with these ads that want me to watch a 30-minute video where they go into great detail about why their product is so great, often repeating the same information over and over for 30 minutes before telling you what their product actually is, how you can get it, and what it costs. I refuse to give someone 30 minutes when I have no idea what they are even selling. Facebook does the same thing with these people who post an entire novel to simply tell you what they are selling. I want the bottom line. Just tell me what you are selling. Tell me what it does. Tell me how I can get it if I want or need it and how much it costs. This should take no more than a few seconds of my time.

So, now I am going to get to the bottom line of this message. I am pushing for your salvation. Salvation assures us eternal life in heaven with God the Father as opposed to an eternity in hell with the devil.

How do you get salvation? Well, it’s offered freely to everyone. About getting salvation is that it’s freely offered to all of us, but we must be called to salvation by the Holy Spirit.  We do this by admitting we are sinners in need of a Savior. We then believe in Jesus Christ. We must believe that God loves us so much, He sent His Son to die so that those of us who believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Then you must confess your sins. You don’t have to share all your dirty laundry with another person; you can go straight to Jesus. Yes, He already knows your sin, but you must confess and repent. When we truly love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind as Jesus told us to do in Matthew 22:37, we are truly sorry for our sins and don’t want to repeat them. So, we repent, and we ask God to forgive us. We ask Him to fill our hearts with His Holy Spirit so that we can resist the temptation to continue in our sin.

The bottom line is this: you are either going to be saved and will go to heaven when you die, or you will reject Christ and go to hell. There is no in-between. There is no middle ground. None of us knows when we will leave this earth. This is why it is so important to make that decision and act upon it right now. There is no time to wait because tomorrow may never come.

Our Scripture passage is telling us that when it’s all said and done, those who have believed in Him and trusted in Him will inherit a life in heaven. They will never thirst again because they will drink from the spring of life. They will spend eternity in God’s presence. But for those who rejected Christ, they will be in a lake that burns with fire and sulfur. The time to decide where you want to spend eternity is right now; that’s the bottom line.

If you know where you want to go when you leave here, enter into a close relationship with your Savior today, right now.

Have a great day!
