Strange or Estranged?

Indeed, the LORD’s hand is not too short to save, and His ear is not too deaf to hear. But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God, and your sins have made Him hide His face from you so that He does not listen.    Isaiah 59:1-2 HCSB

The word “estranged” is strange. While the root word would seem to be strange, once you put that e in front, it changes the meaning entirely. Strange means unusual or surprising in a way that is unsettling or hard to understand, or unfamiliar. Estranged means no longer close or affectionate to someone; alienated. In the case of a married couple, it can mean spouses who no longer live together.

Using the definitions given for these two words, would either of these describe your relationship with Jesus?  I hope you have a solid relationship with Him so that He is not hard to understand or unfamiliar to you. There are times, however, when we can become estranged from our Lord and Savior. We might have once been in a close relationship but have drifted away over time. Our sin causes a separation between us and God.

If you have never had a close relationship with your Lord and Savior, adhere to Psalms 34:7-8, which says, “The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them. Taste and see that the LORD is good. How happy is the man who takes refuge in Him! Give God a try, you will see that He is good. He is our refuge in times of trouble and will protect us (Psalm 91). He will be with us in the difficult times (John 16:33).

If you were once close to Him but have become separated or alienated from Him, you can return to Him. He will welcome you back with open arms, just as in the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32.  We are told in James 4:8 to draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. James also tells us to cleanse our hands and purify our hearts and not be double-minded. This means we submit to Christ completely. We don’t try to stay in the world and in a relationship with Christ because the two don’t mix.

If having a relationship with Jesus Christ sounds strange to you, I urge you to look into it. Give it a try.

If you have had a relationship with Jesus, but your sin has separated you from Him, come back to Him. You can repent of your sin, and He will cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).  He will be there with you to walk through the fire and the flood (Isaiah 43:2).

If you have never experienced God’s love and mercy, you can come to Him. If you have experienced his goodness but have become estranged from Him, you can come back to Him.

It’s not about your religion; it’s about your relationship with Him. Trust in Him today. Come to Him or come back to Him. Draw near to Him.

We need to love Him with all our hearts, we need to trust in Him and acknowledge Him in all we do, and He will guide us on the right paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

A day is coming, and I believe it is soon, when we will either spend eternity with Him or be separated from Him for eternity. The choice we make, right now, today, and how we live until that time comes will determine our final destination. Please choose wisely.

If he is a stranger to you now, and you don’t correct that, He will be a stranger to you for eternity. If you were once close but have become estranged from Him, you will be estranged from Him for eternity if you don’t return to Him now.

I beg of you to make the right choice before it’s too late.

Have a great day!
