Is Your Family Protected?

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the tactics of the Devil. For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.  Ephesians 6:10-12 HCSB

If you want your family to be protected that can mean a number of things today. We need protection from evil, we need protection from disease, we need protection from the things that offer protection. Do you vaccinate or don’t you vaccinate? The information on either side can be overwhelming.

If you truly want to know that your family is protected from whatever may come their way, you must provide them with a good solid knowledge of their Lord and Savior. In order to put on God’s armor, they must first understand what that is. They must be taught to pray each and every day for God’s protection against the evil that exists in this world.

They need to shield themselves with truth, peace, faithfulness, salvation, righteousness. They need to have the knowledge of God’s word.

Psalm 91 is the Psalm of protection. It is my favorite Psalm because it basically covers everything we need to be protected from and offers assurance that God will protect us from whatever comes our way.

Jesus is the best protection for your family members. It’s important they understand that He loves them and wants to protect them. We will spend a great deal of money on things like firearms, fences, gates, security systems, guard dogs, alarm systems and camera systems. We will put a great deal of thought and effort into seeing that our homes and our families are safe.

Have you ever considered how much time you spend teaching your children about the Lord? Do you take them to church? Are you sure they have a good, solid foundation? The world is a cruel place. When children go to school, they will face bullies and temptations to do things that you have taught them not to do. They will seek acceptance from those who you would prefer they stay away from. There are all types of dangers lurking in the world today.

In Deuteronomy Chapter 6, the Israelites were instructed to follow and keep the Ten Commandments. They were also instructed to teach them to their children and help their children understand the importance of being obedient to God. In verses 7-9, it says, “Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

We are told in Proverbs 22:6 to raise a child up in the way he should go and even in his old age, he will not depart from it.

We can’t be with our children 24 hours a day and seven days a week. We must pray for God to form a hedge of protection around them. We much teach them about their Lord and Savior and His great love for them. We must bring them up in church so that they can understand how important it is to love the Lord with all your heart, trust in Him and obey Him.

If you consider the safety and protection of your family to be a priority, then please don’t neglect the most important part of that, helping them to have a solid relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the best protection they can ever have.

Fathers lead your wives and children to trust and obey the Lord. Mothers set a good example for your children and teach them the Bible. Children, honor and obey your parents.

If you have lived with a family that failed to protect you, break the bonds. Let Jesus Christ come into your heart and help you start a new family tradition of loving and obeying the Lord.

This is how to keep your family protected.

Have a great day!
