Are You in the Click?

Therefore, brothers, since we have boldness to enter the sanctuary through the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way He has opened for us through the curtain (that is, His flesh), and since we have a great high priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart full of assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.     Hebrews 10:19-22 HCSB

“Clicks” or exclusive groups are something we deal with from childhood. We learn at an early age that you are either in the “click” or you are not. Later in life, there are “clicks” in the workplace and even “clicks” in our churches. Oftentimes, the way to get into a certain group is by knowing or having a close relationship with one of its members. A member with enough clout in the group can give a good word about you, and you are in.

When Jesus died on the cross, He allowed all of us to become members of this exclusive group. Many like to believe that everyone is a child of God or a member of His group, but this is not the case. Jesus shed His blood so that we all can be members, but not everyone chooses to be a member.

Many groups require certain sacrifices to be a member. They may require time for meetings, events, and community service, and may also require a financial commitment.

When we join Jesus’ group of disciples, we are required to give of our time, our talent, and even help to financially support ministries. It takes commitment. So, I guess the question today is, do you want to be in this group?

In the Old Testament, only the High Priest could go into the Holy of Holies in the temple. There was a curtain that separated it from the sanctuary. When Jesus died on the cross, the curtain was torn (Matthew 27:51). People no longer had to bring animal sacrifices to have their sins forgiven. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, paying for our sins once and for all. We, however, have to be willing to accept Him as our Savior to reap these benefits.

There are benefits to our earthly groups, like recognition, the satisfaction of helping others, and they may even look good on a resume. But remember, these are temporary, as is everything here on earth.

When we surrender to Christ, however, we not only become a part of a click or group, but we become a part of His family. We become a child of God.

Oftentimes on earth, it’s all about who you know. Heaven will be no different. If you don’t know your Lord and Savior, you will be turned away. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:21-23 that not everyone will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of the Father. He warns those who don’t do the Father’s will that they will be turned away on judgment day, and He will say to them, “I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!”

I can assure you that there is no click, group, fraternity, sorority, or organization that we can be a part of here on earth that provides the eternal benefits of being a child of God. And should any earthly organization encourage you to do anything contrary to God’s word, get as far away from it as you can.

Trust in God. He provides eternal salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father except through Me.”

When you breathe your last breath here on earth, it’s going to be all about who you know and whose group you are in. Do you know your Lord and Savior? Do you follow Him? Have you accepted Christ as your Savior and been adopted into God’s family?

There is no person, group, or organization here on earth that can help you in eternity. Make God and His family your priority. Whatever you do when it comes to God’s click, be sure you are on the inside.

Have a great day!
