In a moment in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 5:2 ESV
Some will tell you there is no rapture, but I believe there are too many Scripture passages that speak of the rapture. In our Scripture passage for today, we are told that it will happen in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. In 1 Thessalonians 5:2 we are told that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
We are told in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 that the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of a trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. This not only describes the rapture, but it specifically speaks of those who are in Christ, the believers who have surrendered their lives to Him.
Those who are not saved, will be left to endure the tribulation. We are told in Luke 17:34-37, in the night there will be two in one bed, one will be taken, and the other will be left. There will be two women grinding grain and one will be taken, and the other will be left.
When the rapture happens, those who are truly saved will be caught up in the air to spend eternity with the Lord. Are you taking a chance on getting there or do you know beyond a doubt you will spend eternity in heaven?
None of us know when the rapture will take place. We don’t know if we will die before that time or not. We should, however, know where we will be going when we die. We should know if the rapture were to happen right now if we would be taken up to heaven or left behind to endure the tribulation.
If the rapture were to happen right this minute, are you one hundred percent sure you would go to heaven to spend eternity with the Lord? Or do you just hope so. My friend, you need to know so.
I see so many people today who like to give God just a little bit of their time and a little bit of their money. They have one foot in the world and try to dip a toe in the Word. They are unwilling to die to self and live for Christ. They are gambling with where they will spend eternity.
First, we need to remember eternity is forever and ever. I realize it’s hard to wrap our finite minds around God’s infinite wisdom and eternity. I get it, it’s hard for me too. I just know when it comes to where I will spend forever, I don’t want it to be hell. We only have two choices we will either spend eternity in heaven or in hell. Which will it be for you?
Are you rolling the dice when it comes to your salvation? Are you hoping you will get to heaven but not sure?
There will come a time when it’s too late to make that commitment. It will be too late to accept Christ as your Savior. It will be too late to glorify God in the things we say and do. It will be too late to surrender our lives to Him. Don’t wait.
Don’t gamble with where you will spend eternity. God wants you to come to Him. He doesn’t want anyone to go to hell, He wants all of us with Him. He created us to be in close fellowship with Him and spend eternity with Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:9 says God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
God created us to be citizens of heaven. He wants us there, but He won’t force us to go. It’s our choice. Surrender your life to Him before it’s too late.
Have a great day!
