All Day, Every Day

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; On you I wait all the day.
Psalms 25:5 NKJV

I don’t know about you, but I don’t care to be in a relationship with someone who is sometimes my friend. I don’t want to associate myself with someone who sometimes cares for me and sometimes does not. I don’t want a fair-weather friend or someone who only comes around when they need something.

This is also not how our relationship with our Lord should be. In this Psalm, David wrote of his trust in the Lord. He wrote in verse 1, “To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.”  In verse 2, David spoke of how he trusted the Lord and asked God not to let him be ashamed and not to let his enemies triumph over him. In verse 3, he goes on to ask God to let no one who waits on Him be ashamed and to let those who deal treacherously with Him and His children experience shame.

In verse 4, David asks the Lord to show him His paths and teach him His ways.

If we have a habit of prayer and Bible study in the morning, and prayer at night. These are good habits, but we must keep our focus on the Lord all day long, every day. We should not occasionally acknowledge God or focus on Him.

In Proverbs 3:6, we are told to acknowledge God in all our ways, and He will lead us on the right paths. There is nowhere in the Bible that says we are to sometimes love the Lord or sometimes acknowledge the Lord. We are told to love Him with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind in Matthew 22:37.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” It’s God’s will to be in fellowship with us throughout the day, every day. It’s His will for us to be glad and rejoice in the day He has made. It’s His will for us to remain in constant communication with Him through prayer and Bible study. It’s His will for us to be thankful regardless of our circumstances and have the faith to believe that God is working all things out for our good as long as we love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Ask yourself this question: What do you rely on as you go through the day? Do you rely on God all day, every day? Do you trust Him in all situations?

He doesn’t want your half-hearted devotion. He gave His all for you, and He wants all you have to give. Surrender yourself to Him today. You will be so glad you did.

Have a great day!
