Acknowledge God’s Sovereignty

Your kingdom come. You will be done on earth as it is in heaven.    Matthew 6:10 NKJV

A really good explanation of this verse is found in Colossians 1:16-17 which says, “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. All things, including you and me, were created by Him. We sometimes forget why we are here or why we were created. We were created by Him, through Him, and for Him. We were created to be in close fellowship with Him. This is why when we try to do things our way we tend to get all out of whack. When we fall out of the fellowship with our Lord and Savior, it leaves us vulnerable to the enemy’s attack.

He is over all things in this universe. He controls all things. We must always remember that He is omnipresent or everywhere at once. He is omniscient, He knows everything. And He is also omnipotent, meaning He is all powerful. There is nothing He can’t do. He controls all things and He knows our future. This is why we must understand that His ways are above our ways. He sees and knows things like what will happen to us and where we will be ten years from now. Therefore, He knows what paths we should take. We are wise to acknowledge Him in all we do and allow Him to lead us and guide us.

One of the hardest things I did as a Christian, was learning to pray for God’s will to be done even if it went against what I wanted. I had to trust that whatever His will was, it was best for me. I had to believe in Romans 8:28 which tells us that God works all things for the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

I look forward to the coming of His kingdom. I look forward to spending eternity with Him in heaven. This is why I have learned to trust in His will. I do my best to align my will with His will because I know He loves me. I know He wants what is best for me.

For years I prayed for a certain job and did all I could do to make myself eligible for the position. It just wasn’t in God’s will. I was devastated when I didn’t get it. It would take about 10 years for me to understand that it would have been really bad for me if I had gotten this job. God knew what my future held. He knew what I needed to be doing and where I needed to be. He also took good care of me, and I got some really nice raises in my old job that made for a nice retirement. He took such good care of me. He even had a use for that extra degree I got for the other job.

We serve a good Father who wants and knows what is best for Him. We should always trust Him to provide that for us. Don’t be disappointed when His answer to your prayer is “no”. Just trust that He is doing what is best for you even if it takes you years to see why.

Pray for God’s will to be done in your life and trust in Him to do what is best for you. You will never be sorry.

Have a great day!
