One of Those Days

This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.     Psalm 118:24 NKJV

Sometimes when I ask someone how’s it going, they may respond, “Oh, it’s going.” or “It’s just one of those days.” Let’s face it, we all have good days and bad days. We have those days where things run smoothly. And then we have those days where we have a series of little disasters one after the other.

This Psalm begins in verse one by saying, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! His mercy endures forever.” Even in bad days we can rejoice over God’s goodness and His mercy. When things aren’t going our way, be can be comforted by Romans 8:28 which tells us that we know that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

If you are having a bad day or just one of those days, turn to God. Read Philippians 4:6-7 which tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”

And once you have given it over to God, continue on down to verse 8 which tells us to focus on all that is good. It tells us to focus on the things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy. And when we focus on Jesus, we remember that He is all these things.

So, just keep your focus on the Lord. Matthew 6:33 tells us to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.”

If you are having those days or perhaps trying to comfort someone who’s having one of those days, remember these Scripture passages. Stop and pray and ask God to guide you through this day.

And above all remember that no matter how bad things get our Lord walks with us through the fire and the flood (Isaiah 43:2). Also know that if we choose to reside in His shelter, He will protect us (Psalm 91:1-2).

The Lord made this day, so let’s rejoice in it!

Have a great day!
