Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 ESV
When the going gets tough, we sometimes tend to feel like we are the Lone Ranger. We feel like we are in this all by ourselves. We may feel all alone in our illness or our sorrow and emotional pain. This can cause us to throw a pity party for one. This is never good.
No matter what we are going through, we are not alone. Psalm 23:4 says even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
God’s holy word tells us we are not alone. He is with us no matter what we may go through. His word also tells us that many other suffer the same things we do. We are not alone in experiencing whatever we may be going through at any given time.
Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that we will have suffering in this world. But He also tells us to be courageous because He has conquered the world. We will deal with many types of suffering, but He wants us to know we are not alone in our suffering. Many others are going through the same type of suffering as we are.
Charles Stanley says we are most susceptible to the devil’s temptations when we are hungry, angry, lonely or tired. It is at these times the devil is most likely to attack. We must be on guard against these attacks. We must turn to Jesus and trust in Him and obey His commands.
The devil will lie to you and tell you it’s never going to get any better. He will tell you God doesn’t care about you. He will tell you sin will make you feel better. He will tell you it’s okay to sin, God will understand. He’s got lots of lies he can use when we are down. His lies are only meant to give us a brief period of happiness with a big letdown to follow.
We are told in 1 Peter 5:9 to resist the devil and stand firm in our faith, knowing that the same sufferings are being experienced by our fellow believers throughout the world. We are told in 1 Corinthians 10:13 no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to humanity. You might want to take the time to actually read these two Scripture passages.
Don’t stop there, keep reading because in 1 Peter 5:11 we are told that God, himself will personally restore, establish, strengthen and support us after we have suffered a little while. 1 Corinthians 10:13 goes on to say God is faithful and will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle and will also provide a way of escape, so we are able to bear it.
If you are feeling lonely, don’t let the devil console you with his lies. Turn to God, trust in Him. Know that He will never leave nor forsake you. He’s got you. He will get you through this.
You are not alone.
Have a great day!
