Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; You understand my thoughts from far away. You observe my travels and my rest; You are aware of all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, LORD. You have encircled me; You have placed Your hand on me. This extraordinary knowledge is beyond me. It is lofty; I am unable to reach it. Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. If I live at the eastern horizon or settle at the western limits, even there your hand will lead me; Your right hand will hold on to me. Psalm 139:1-10 HCSB
We live in an age where someone is always watching. There are cameras on our traffic lights, in the stores where we shop, on most people’s houses and in everyone’s hand these days. Wherever we go we run the risk of being filmed and perhaps even with audio recording. Whatever we say or do may end up on social media. But the thing that we must be even more mindful of is God’s constant presence. Wherever we go we can rest assured that our maker is right there with us.
Now, I guess depending on what you are up to that could either be a good thing or a bad thing. He sees all. So when you are watching porn in your room late at night, He’s there. When you are sitting on that barstool three sheets to the wind flirting with the person who is not your spouse, yep, He’s right there. When you are telling that lie to cover up that thing you did that you hope no one finds out about, there He is. When you are laughing at the dirty joke at the water cooler or taking his name in vain because you are mad, He’s there with you.
But also know that when you fall, He is there to pick you up. When you are hurting, He is there to heal your pain. When you are mourning, He is there to wrap His arms of love around you to comfort you. When the hill is just a little too steep for you to climb, He is there to pull you up. When you just don’t know which way to turn, He is there to guide you. When you face huge armies coming against you, He is there to fight the battle for you (2 Chronicles 20).
He is there for the good times and the bad times. He is there when we make Him proud and follow His commandments and show love and compassion for others. He is there when we disappoint Him when our behavior is not so good and we grieve the Holy Spirit.
There is one place where we can go to escape God’s presence. That’s hell. You see the worst part of hell, even worse than the scorching heat and constant torment, is that God is not there. We will be eternally separated from our Lord and Savior. There will be no crying out to God, the time for that will be over. There will only be eternal suffering, pain and torment.
Oh, and the other thing is that He gives us free will to choose where we can go. The entire time that we spend on planet earth can be spent preparing for an eternity in glory with God the Father or it can be spent on the highway to hell. We have free will to choose.
Now remember as long as we are here on planet earth, He is waiting right there with open arms hoping that we will turn to Him and come to our senses. But should we die and face the Great White Throne of Judgment without accepting Christ as our Savior, He is forced to send us to an eternity in hell.
You can’t escape God no matter what you do. He loves you no matter how unlovable you may try to be. He is there for you. If you are reading this, then you still have the opportunity to trust in Him. You can give it all over to Him and let Him work it all out for you. I beg of you to do this before it’s too late. He’s right there waiting for you.
If you have been saved, but have become backslidden, there is no better time than right now to trust in Him. Wherever you go, He is going to be there. Why not allow Him to carry that heavy burden that you are lugging around? Why not trust Him to make your crooked path straight? He’s right there, He’s willing, and He’s able. The rest is up to you.
Have a great day!
