But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
Let’s face it- in this drive-thru, internet, instant world we live in no one wants to wait. We want it yesterday. It’s even worse when we are suffering.
If we are facing hard times, we want them to be over as soon as possible. A day can truly seem like a thousand days when we are sick be it mentally, physically, or spiritually. We want healing right away.
We want our problems to be solved right away. But God doesn’t do things in our timing, He does them in His timing. We are told in Ecclesiastes 8:6 there is a time and a way for everything even though man’s troubles lay heavy on him. In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we are told for everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.
Although it is still really hard to wait, I try to remind myself that I’m not just waiting for the Lord, I’m actually watching Him work it all out. I have found that while I am waiting God is working. When God works it out, it is perfectly worked out because He makes no mistakes.
I have also learned that while I wait for Him, it is a good time for me to strengthen my faith. It’s a time for me to grow strong. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the LORD, be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
When God works things out for us, they are worked out just as they should be. When we take matters into our own hands, not so much. Trust me, I am telling you this from personal experience.
Believe it when the Bible tells you in Isaiah 55:8-9 that His ways are higher than your ways and His thoughts are higher than your thoughts. Our heavenly Father knows what is best for us because He knows what our future holds. He knows not only what we need now, but what we will need 30 years from now.
He knows the number of hairs on our head and the day and the hour and minute that He will call us home. He cares for us and will fight for us.
If I had a dollar for every time I did something on my own and then begged God to clean up the mess I had made, I’d be a very wealthy woman today. I have spent the last 10 plus years giving it over to Him. It has been a process. I still struggle with waiting, but I love to watch Him work.
I love knowing that when He works it out, it will be perfect. I love that He does what is best for me, even if the road getting there is a little rough. I have learned through all of this to trust in Him.
My prayer for you today is that you can do the same.
Trust in God, give it all over to Him. He will work it out in the best way possible for you if you simply trust in Him. It’s our job to bring Him glory, honor and praise. It’s His job to take good care of us. Let’s never get those confused.
When we work it out, there is plenty of room for error. When He works it out it’s perfect. Which do you prefer? Give that some thought as you go through this day.
Have a great day!
