Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand. Isaiah 41:10 ESV
I don’t know about you, but more and more these days I am experiencing situations that just leave me dumbfounded and shaking my head. There are situations where I am keeping my mouth shut because, in all honesty, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. I often times find myself in situations that are beyond my control. I may know what should happen, but if it requires someone else to agree and actually put the plan into action, I may find myself disappointed and frustrated.
When you are a fixer, you want to fix things. When you must rely on help from others to fix it, you can often be left feeling frustrated. When you don’t know what to say or what to do the best thing you can do is turn to God. Talk to God about what you are going through. He is right there. He is willing to listen even if it seems that no one else is. Now, that’s the first part of solving this problem, but the second part is being willing to listen to God. Trust in Him. Know that He will take your crook path and make it straight (Isaiah 45:2). He too is a fixer and when he fixes it you can rest assured that it is fixed for good.
Think about it this way, say your child has broken their toy and they come to you and ask you to fix it. You look at the toy and see that it will be an easy fix, but your child refuses to give the toy to you. You can’t fix the toy until the child releases the toy to you to be fixed. What a conundrum, right? But we do that with God all the time. I know I do. I have a problem that I can’t possibly fix. I know that only God can fix it. I bring it to Him, but then I refuse to sit it down and let it go. I continue to think about what I can do to fix it. I continue to hold on to this broken toy. It’s no good to me if it’s broken, but I’m not willing to let it go. I don’t know what to do but I refuse to let go. It sounds like insanity, right?
I am learning, albeit the hard way, that I have to let go and let God. I am learning that God is not going to play tug of war with me. I can hold on to the broken pieces or I can let God put it all back together and make it better than it was when it was brand new.
If something in your life has become broken or you have a problem that is too big for you to even wrap your head around, much less fix, know that God is right there. You don’t have to be discouraged, you don’t have to be dismayed, you just have to trust in Him. When burdens weigh us down and we feel as though we are falling from the weight that is on our shoulders, He is right there to uphold you with His righteous hand.
When you don’t know what to do, trust in Him. Have no fear, don’t be discouraged, don’t be dismayed, He is your God. He will give you strength and hold you up when your feet fail you. There is nothing that He cannot do. He’s got this. So when you don’t know what to do, know that He does. He can fix this. But, you have to let it go. You have to give it over to Him. If you want Him to fix it, you’ve got to let it go.
Have a great day!
