“There is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered, nothing hidden that won’t be made known. Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.” Luke 12:3 CSB
I listen to some of the news stories that are on today and I wonder if those involved would have done or said what they did if they had known they were being recorded? Would they have said or done these things if they knew that someone was going to post it to a social media sight and have it go viral?
Would the person caught in a very compromising position have rethought the whole thing if they had realized that it was going to make national news? Would they have done things differently if they realized that it was going to cost them their job? Would they have refrained from doing this thing if they had realized that their entire family was going to find out about it? Would they have done it if they had realized that even their pastor would see it?
It’s funny that we concern ourselves with our public image or our social media image and we give little concern to what God sees us do. God sees it in real time. He’s there when you are messing up. He’s there when you are giving it some thought. He’s there when you are making the decision to do something that you know is wrong.
Maybe you don’t care if the world sees you bring shame to yourself and those who love you, but be aware that God sees it too. Even if you aren’t videoed and no one else knows about it, God knows. We don’t keep any secrets from Him. I truly believe that we are living in the end times. We have been studying Genesis 6-9 and have been studying the ark and the flood. If God was so upset with the evil that was so widespread in Noah’s day, what makes us think he’s okay with what’s going on in our world today.
Is there anything in your life that you like to keep hidden? Is there anything you wouldn’t want your family or your pastor to know? Well, know that it is not hidden. God knows all about it. You can turn to Him today. You can earnestly repent and He will forgive you and make you clean (1 John 1:9). You can ask Him to remove this sin from your life. You can ask Him to send His Holy Spirit to fill your heart and help you to sin no more. Often times we don’t do any of this because we don’t want to. We are happy in our sin. Often times we sin because we are going along with the crowd. We want them to look up to us. Where will they be when you are thrown into the lake of fire? Well, probably right along beside you.
We are told that we are to please God and not men. John speaks of those who believed in Christ, but would not confess Him for fear of being banned from the synagogue and says in chapter 12, verse 43, “For they loved praise from men more than praise from God.” Proverbs 29:25 says that the fear of man is a snare, but the one who trusts in the LORD is protected. Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 2:4, “Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but rather God, who examines our hearts.”
We are told from an abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks in Matthew 12:34. We speak and act what is in our heart. Search your heart today. Is there anything in there that God would not approve of? If so, ask Him to search your heart (Psalm 139:23). Ask Him to remove anything that should not be there.
I believe that very soon, we will answer for what’s in our hearts and what comes out of our mouths or is typed on our keyboards or is posted on our social media. Are you using those to please God or please man? Man will not be the one judging you on judgment day. Please give this some careful consideration.
And if you are considering doing something wrong, ask yourself, “What if this went viral?” Would you still do it? Know that God sees all that we do and His Word tells us that whatever we do in darkness will be brought to light.
Have a great day!
