The one who reads this book is blessed, and those who hear the words of this prophecy and keep what is written in it are blessed, because the time is near! Revelation 1:3 HCSB
I have come to realize no matter how much I study the Bible; I will never know all there is to know about this awesome book.
It is really a fascinating book that begins with the creation of the universe and takes us through the Old Testament times and brings us to the birth of Jesus Christ and his life, death and resurrection. It goes on to tell of the foundation of the church and what the apostles went through and the persecutions they faced for spreading the gospel. It ends with the prophecy that is yet to come in the book of Revelation. Revelation lets us know what is coming and how we can remain safe and protected from God’s wrath once it is unleashed here on earth.
No matter your age or your social status or your education level, you simply must read and study the Bible. It’s a wonderful historical narrative complete with war stories, family dramas, romantic stories and it is God’s love letter to us, His children.
The book of Revelation begins by saying that it is the revelation of Jesus Christ that God gave Him to show His slaves what must quickly take place. He sent it and signified it through His angel to His slave John, who testified to God’s word and to the testimony about Jesus Christ, in all he saw (Revelation 1:1-2).
Let me say if you join in a read your Bible through the year program, that’s a good start. I encourage you, however, to study your Bible. Do a deep dive into God’s word. When we began the study on Revelation in our women’s Facebook group, many people commented on what a deep book Revelation was. I felt as though many thought I was not qualified to lead this study. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not qualified to lead this study. This is why I relied on several pastors and well-known Christian authors. I studied the studies they had done on this awesome book and shared what they had studied.
Yes, Revelation is a deep book, but I say to you all of the Bible is deep. You just have to be willing to go that deep. You can do a surface read or you can do a deep dive. I highly recommend the deep dive. This gives you a deeper meaning of God’s Holy Word. With this deeper meaning of His word, you get to know Him better. You get to have a better understanding of what it is that God expects of us. We also get a better understanding of all the good God does for us and a deeper appreciation for Him.
If you don’t read the Bible, you don’t know what you are missing. Social media is made up of all the old worldly things that are passing away. Television has so little that a Christian can watch in good conscience. The Bible is something that we can read over and over and never tire of. I am not saying it’s a bad thing to read social media or watch tv depending on what you are taking in. I am simply saying put God’s word first. Read God’s word first. Study God’s word first and use your left-over time for things like social media and television.
If we put God first in all we do, we will do well. Jesus began speaking in the book of Revelation in chapter 1 verse three with our Scripture passage for today. Jesus ended the book of Revelation with chapter 22. In verse 7, again He said, “Look I am coming quickly! The one who keeps the prophetic words of this book is blessed.” If you have read it, you have done well, but you must study it and obey it.
This is why the Bible truly is a must-read book.
Have a great day!
