The Witness Relocation Program

Then He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation.”  Mark 16:15 HCSB

We are called to be witnesses for Christ. We are never told that it will be easy or glamorous. As a matter of fact, we are warned that we will be persecuted.

When you think of the witness relocation program, or WITSEC as it is sometimes called, you think of witnesses who put their lives in danger to testify in trials like those of mafia bosses and the like. They usually agree to testify because they are facing lengthy prison terms. Many testify to keep themselves out of prison or in exchange for reduced sentences, but then they have a target on their back. They need to take on new identities and be relocated in hopes that they won’t be found by those who intend to do them harm.

Witnessing for Christ can cause a host of problems such as problems with friends and family members. It can cause people to turn away from us. It can cause people to judge us and if they find one tiny flaw, we will be deemed hypocrites.

But, it guarantees eternal security. We are guaranteed to be relocated to our heavenly abode when our life on this earth is done.

When we witness for Christ, we have His protection (Psalm 91). We may go through hard times, but as long as we love the Lord and are doing the work He has called us to do, we know that He works all things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

My question for you today is how is your witness relocation program going? Are you sure that you are headed to glory for eternity? Are you sure that your witness has been sufficient to grant you immunity from doing time (eternity) in the fiery pits of hell?

My friend, if you are sure of nothing else in your life, you must be sure of this. You must know where you will spend eternity. You must know that you are safe from the torments of hell.

As Christians, our witness is extremely important. The Great Commission was issued by Jesus to His disciples in Mathew 19 when He said, “Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Then in Acts 1:8 just before Jesus ascended into heaven, He told them, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

We are not here to adorn church pews. We are not here to just soak up all the good that God has to offer. We are here to share that with others. We are here to be God’s witness in the way we live our lives and the way we treat others.

Again, I ask you to consider your witness. If someone were to interview your family members, friends, and coworkers would they say that you witness to them through the way you live your life? Is it possible that they see how you conduct yourself and wish they could be more like you? Do they see God’s love through you? Do they see you imitating Christ in the way you talk to others and treat them?

In order to qualify for the witness protection program, the first requirement is that you are willing to testify. You must actually be willing to be a witness. Are you willing to do that? If so, there is an awesome relocation program designed just for you. In John 14:2 Jesus told His disciples, “In my father’s house are many mansions:  if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

Are you willing to witness for Him? Are you willing to speak up for Him and live in a way that brings Him glory and honor and praise? If so, He has a wonderful place prepared for you.

If not, what are you waiting for?

Have a great weekend!
