My granddaughter is precious. She’s beautiful and her radiant little smile has you wanting to kiss her whole face. Her parents, however, like many parents today have asked that no one kiss her. It’s not because they want to deprive us, it’s because they are concerned about her health. We all know an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Today we live in a world full of viruses. Some of these viruses can be deadly, especially to the very young or the elderly. As much as I would just love to plant kisses all over her little forehead, I refrain knowing I could be the carrier of a virus yet have no symptoms.
I’ve experienced flu and COVID and they can both be miserable and deadly. The virus of sin leads to misery and can be deadly. It tends to spread. Our Scripture passage says sin entered the world through one man meaning Adam. Death is the result of sin. It explains that in this way death spread to all men because all men sinned.
Romans 3:23 tells us all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But praise God the story doesn’t end here. There is a cure. That cure is Jesus Christ. We know from Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death, but we also know the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The infusion is a very effective treatment for COVID. There are also drugs on the market to treat the flu. The thing about the infusion and the flu treatments are you only have a short window of time after symptoms begin for these treatments to be effective.
My friend if you are infected with sin, you need to infuse your life with Jesus Christ. You need to pray to Him, you need to study His word, you need to surrender your life to Him. He is the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him. We know this from John 14:6.
If you are already suffering from being infected with sin, walk with the Spirit (Galatians 5:16).
With Jesus, we don’t know how long we have. So, it’s urgent that we surrender to Him right away. He will fill our hearts with His Holy Spirit.
There are many diseases and viruses out there. There are many drugs that claim to help with symptoms of these illnesses or cure them altogether. Of course, the side effects for many of these drugs are scary.
The side effects of salvation and surrendering to Christ on the other hand are desirable. When we walk with the Spirit, we exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. In Galatians 5:16 we are told walking with the Spirit is a preventive measure against sin because when we do this, we do not carry out the desire of the flesh. The side effects are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness and self-control.
I resist the urge to kiss my granddaughter because her health is more important to me than my desire to kiss that precious little face. I don’t want to take the chance of causing her harm.
I do my best to resist the urge to sin because I don’t want to face the misery that sin brings. I have been there, done that and got the t-shirt. I don’t want to go back. I also don’t want to spread it to others.
Sin is a deadly virus that quickly spreads out of control. If you want to be cured infuse your life with Jesus Christ and His word. Walk with the Holy Spirit. Stop the spread by walking with Him daily through Bible study and prayer. You’ll feel so much better!
