And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 NASB
I would like to say that I am not a big fan of changes, but when I think about it a lot of changes that have happened in my life have been for the best. They have been really good changes. Last night we had dinner with my stepson and my soon to be daughter-in-law. As their wedding approaches we get more excited about the changes it will bring. They have agreed that they will be house hunting soon the expenses from the wedding are paid for. And of course, they want children in the near future. So we are really excited about having grandchildren. The additions to our family are wonderful changes that our whole family is really excited about.
But some changes are not so joyful like the death of a loved one or the loss of a friendship or other relationship for whatever reason. Some changes are a bit scary like changing jobs or moving.
I can recall a time about ten years ago when I needed to make some changes in my life but was truly afraid to do so. I had sin in my life. God was dealing with me about it, but to make the needed change was a little scary. Making this change might cause the loss of a relationship, it might cause severe financial hardships and a host of other heartaches. So, I just put off making the change. I just ignored God’s gentle nudges to get my life in order. I decided to stay conformed to the ways of this world instead of being transformed into someone who did it God’s way. That didn’t work well at all.
The more God nudged me to make the change and the more I resisted, the more chaotic and turbulent my life became. It finally came to a point when I just couldn’t take it anymore. I cried out to God, I asked Him to help me make the changes that I needed to make to get my life in order. But most importantly, I gave it all over to Him. I trusted Him with all those things that had frightened me. He took control and within a matter of days had turned my life upside down, shook all the bad stuff out and set it back up right again. Through some destruction of Satan’s strongholds, He fixed it. He never left me alone through this process. I could feel His presence every step of the way. He worked everything out even the financial end of it. While I was sitting there wondering how I was going to pay the bills, He was lining up the solutions for that. I never had any problems with my bills. He restored relationships and made them better than before. While I was wondering, God was working. I wondered how I would give up sin to which I had become so accustomed. I was wondering how I would give up sin that all my friends were okay with and trade it for a life that may cause them to think of me as some sort of religious freak. But God took care of all of that. I stopped conforming and He took care of the necessary transformation.
If you have sin in your life with which you have become a little too comfortable, know that God can take care of that if you will only let Him. This sin will destroy you. There is no better time than now to give it over to God. Don’t fear the change that is coming your way, give it all over to God and know that this will be a wonderful change in your life. It will literally transform your life to make it better than you can possibly imagine.
God never asks us to go anywhere or do anything that He is not fully prepared and fully capable of helping us do or guiding us in where to go. Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)? God wants the best for you (John 10:10) and He has good things planned for you (Jeremiah 29:11), but He will not force His goodness on us. We must give it all over to Him and trust Him with our lives.
Don’t take my word, try it for yourself and you will see, this is one change that will really do you good!
Have a great day!
