2 Chronicles 20:17 “You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out and face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.”
This passage comes from one of my favorite Old Testament stories. King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah were praying to God because a vast army was coming against them. For a minute there they hit the panic button and questioned God as to why he was allowing this attack to come against them.
But the spirit of the Lord came on a man named Jahaziel and he delivered the message in the scripture passage above. Telling the people of Judah not to be afraid. He told them to suit up for battle and go and stand firm. When they did this the army coming against them started fighting amongst themselves. The Bible tells us that they actually destroyed each other. All the small army from Judah had to do was go in and carry their plunder. According to the Bible their plunder contained a great amount of equipment, clothing, and articles of value. Verse 25 tells us that it was more than they could take away and that it took them three days to collect it.
This is a wonderful story of how God takes care of us. Let us never forget that he is there for us. Sometimes when that vast army is coming against us, it’s a little scary to suit up for battle and stand firm. But don’t ever forget that the battle is the Lord’s and he is with you! So if you are facing a vast army, don’t be afraid. “Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you”
