Standing Still and Strong

What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?  Romans 8:31 HCSB

We all want to be liked. We want the approval of others.  But we know that we don’t always have the approval of others, especially when we try to live our lives according to God’s word.  Often times others will come against us.  Even those that profess to be Christians may seem to come against us when we don’t do things their way.  We must remember that we are here to do things God’s way. We must do our best to live our lives according to God’s word.

When it seems as if your world is caving in and those that you thought loved you come against you, remember that if God is for you that you have the Almighty, All Powerful, All knowing, Ever present God fighting for you.  Who can come against that?

When Jehoshaphat had not one, but two vast armies, coming against his small army, he cried out to God for help and he reminded God that these were the very people that God did not let them destroy when they came out of Egypt on their way to the promised land. He asked God if he was not going to judge these people that are now turning against God’s people.  God gave an awesome answer. He told Judah not to be afraid or discouraged because of this vast number of people coming against them.  He told them that it was not their battle, but His. He told them that they did not have to fight this battle.  And then he told them words that must have sounded good to them. He told them that they only had to be still and see the salvation of the LORD,  the salvation of Yahweh, the all powerful, almighty God that we serve (2 Chronicles 20:12-17)

If you are facing a huge battle today against what seems to be a vast army, I encourage you to stand still first.  You can’t hear God as well or follow His instructions when you are running around and plotting what you will do.  Stand still and find out first what He would have you to do. Then, I remind you to stand strong.  If God is for you, who can be against you? Don’t forget the power of our God.  We serve a God that can move mountains into the sea. He can surely help you with your problems and He will fight your battles.

Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and know that He is God, that he will be exalted among the nations and on the earth. Stand still and stand strong in the power of our almighty God.  He is here with you.  Do not be discouraged or be afraid, but trust in Him. This is His battle and if you position yourself, stand still and stand strong, you will see the salvation of the LORD (2 Chronicles 20:17).

Have a great day!
