Dear friends, although I was eager to write you about the salvation we share, I found it necessary to write and exhort you to contend for the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all. For some men, who were designated for this judgment long ago, have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of God into promiscuity and denying Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.  Jude 1:3-4 HCSB

I guess I should not continue to be amazed each time I read something that was written thousands of years ago and realize how applicable it is to our lives today, but I am.  We look at what the Israelites went through because of their continued disobedience and we look at our nation and what we go through.

My dad was in World War II.  Thankfully he survived and came home to marry my mom and raise my two sisters and me.  Some were not as fortunate.  But I think about the nation that those men were fighting for compared to the nation that our soldiers defend today.  Wow!  What a different country this is today.  People running around spouting the slogan, “make American great again”.  Many count on our politicians to do this.  Sadly, our politicians think that they are great enough to make this happen on their own.  These are the same politicians that are in the news with their sex scandals and bribes and payoffs.  Is this how they intend to make our nation great again?  Sorry, I don’t think that is going to cut it.  People are outraged by Bill Cosby’s behavior, but turn a blind eye when our politicians do the same things.

The Land of the Free has taken on a whole new meaning these days.  It means that you are free to speak out against our government, our military, desecrate our flag, and free to speak out against God, Christians, and Godly principles. Men are free to go into restrooms with little girls at certain stores like Target.  We are not free, however, to discriminate against the sexually perverse or against those who have crept in among us.  These are the ungodly people who pervert the grace of God that our scripture passage refers to. Are we really free or have we become slaves to our sinful behavior?

Do you remember when heinous crimes were only heard of every few years?  Now they are every few hours.  I actually remember when I first started out in law enforcement and a police officer being murdered was something that only happened in big cities and then just every few years.  Now that too is every few hours.  Now I know the internet has a lot to do with the fact that we are aware with everything that goes on in the world as it is happening, but still these types of things just didn’t happen with such frequency back in the day.

Sadly we are killing our selves, our great nation, and our freedoms with our freedoms.  I believe that we are at the point that is talked about in Romans chapter 1 where God has given us over to our sinful nature.

Are we in the end times?  Yes, I certainly believe we are.  So what do we do about our nation and the problems we are facing?  Well, you will either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution, you have this choice to make.

As for me, I choose to be a part of the solution.  I have read my Bible.  I have seen what the Israelites went through as they turned from God.  I have seen how they begged for God’s forgiveness and how eventually He delivered them after they had spent years in captivity as slaves to other lands.

So as for me, I intend to fight this battle on my knees and I am asking you to join me.  We need to fight for our country.  We need to turn to God before it is too late.  I don’t want to be thinking ten years from now and thinking, “remember when we were in the USA with freedom to worship and do as we please.  Remember when we had freedom of speech?  Remember when we could pray, read our Bible and attend the church of our choice openly?”.  If Christians don’t stand up, we could lose the freedom that our brave men and women have died to protect.  I urge you not to let that happen.

2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us that “if my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

It’s not too late, yet.  I urge you to remember the brave men and women that gave their all to save this great country of ours.  Don’t let those “ungodly people who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord”  take this away from us.

Remember God gives us freedom also.  He gives us the freedom to choose a life of sin which leads to death or a life of righteousness which leads to eternal life in glory with God the Father.  I pray today that we can stop the perversion and wickedness that is destroying our country and turn to God so that He can make our nation one great nation under God as it used to be, remember?
