Please God

““Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults. For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations.””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭51:7-8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We live in a “social” media society. It is much easier to go with the flow. It’s less stressful to please our friends and family than to go against them. In years past, if you upset someone they may run into you or call you and you may get an earful, or they might even send you a nasty text or email. Today, however, you may be blasted on social media. Your disagreement made me made public for literally the whole internet world to see. So isn’t it just easier to go along to get along?

As Christians in today’s society we cannot cave in to being people pleasers. We must stay focused on God and do his will, not the will of others. When problems arise, pleasing people seems to be a great short term solution. We need to focus on the long term, like eternity.

God has not promised us an easy life down here but he has promised us a life too wonderful to even fathom for eternity with Him. So it is my prayer for all of us today that we will stay focused on what God wants us to do and not worry about the reproach or insults that we may get from mere mortals. Remember they are just mere mortals. God will take care of them.

God created us to serve Him. Hope you have a great weekend!
