We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation, I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2 NKJV
If you’re like me and tend to procrastinate, I urge you to tend to this one thing right away. This is our salvation. I beg of you not to put this off.
We, as recipients of God’s grace, have the choice to accept or reject His offer of Salvation. We can accept Christ and surrender our lives to Him, or we can reject Him. Failing to choose means choosing to reject Christ.
The reason for the urgency is none of us know the day or the hour we will leave planet earth. We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:2, “For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.” Jesus said in Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My father only.”
Only God knows when the rapture will occur. God knows the day we will die. None of us know when we will be called home. We should, however, know with absolutely no doubt where our eternal home will be.
Paul tells the church at Thessalonica they should not receive God’s grace in vain. I spent many years doing just that. I grew up in church. I knew God loved me and I knew of all the great things He had done for me. I knew of His mercy and His grace. I dabbled at church and played church, going occasionally. Putting my social life and so many other things ahead of God.
There came a time, however, when I had to make a decision as this life was not working for me. I had to put God first. I had to give it all over to Him. I was hesitant to do this because I had become comfortable in my sin. I had sin in my life that I simply did not want to give up. I had no idea how freeing it would be once I did.
That sin, however, started to cause problems in my life. It became like a weight that was weighing me down. It became a load to carry. I had no place to go but to God. I laid it all at His feet and I haven’t looked back.
I have been through some trying times since then, but I have had peace and joy in my life despite my circumstances. He has been right there with me. I have stumbled but He has been there to pick me up. I have never regretted my decision to give it all to Him. I promise you, you won’t either.
God loves you. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”
Have you been putting off surrendering your life to Jesus? Have you been playing church? Do you not have time to study God’s word and pray daily? Do you fail to attend praise and worship services to honor and praise God?
There are two other really important questions I want you to ask yourself. First, do you think God is pleased with His place in your life? Secondly, if that time was right now that you were called to leave this earth, do you know without a doubt that you would spend eternity in heaven?
If you are not living your life according to God’s Holy Word, I can tell you He is not pleased with how you are living your life. And if God is not pleased, you run the risk of spending eternity in hell.
Now is the time to enter into a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Even a minute from now may be too late.
Have a great day!
