Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit who gives you life has set you free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 (NIV)
Have you ever been bogged down by feelings of guilt? More than likely these feelings of guilt have come when you were trying to step out and do work for God.
You see when we start trying to live our life for Christ, the devil gets angry. He then tries to distract us and keep us from getting the job done.
A very powerful tool of Satan is guilt. Satan loves to bring up past sins and constantly remind us of them. Satan loves to tell us that we are not good enough. He wants us to believe that we will never measure up. He wants to keep us beat down by reminding us of our past sins. Reminding us that we are worthless sinners.
But God… Yes, God has paid for our sins. His son Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we may be set free. “Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,”
Jesus does not condemn us, he does not weigh us down with feelings of guilt. Jesus gives us hope. He gives us a future. He has good plans for us. He can use even the worst of sinners.
So the next time that you are feeling weighed down by guilt and shame, remember, this is not coming from God. This is one of Satan’s tools. If we succumb to this it is a very powerful tool. We must resist the urge to let Satan us draw us in with these feelings of shame. The Bible tells us in James 4:7 that if we resist the devil he will flee from us.
Once we accept Christ as our savior, repent of our sins, and ask God to forgive us, our sins are washed away. We are declared not guilty by God. This is the highest court. So tell the devil to get away from you, tell him you have been acquitted by God and declared not guilty.
In God we are made free, so go on and have a great day!
