Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.  For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.   2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV

We like to use the verse that says an “eye for an eye” out of context.  We like to say the Bible says an eye for an eye.  Well that is written in there but only in the context that God is saying that “you have heard it said an eye for an eye, and tooth for tooth.  But I tell you, do not resist an evil person.  If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.”  We like to think that we should back to people what they give to us.

But God wants us to give to others what we get from Him.  God gives us all these wonderful things that we do not deserve not only because he loves us unconditionally, but because He wants us to share them with others.  God gives us unconditional love so that we can extend that to our neighbor.  God gives us comfort so that we can comfort others in times of trouble.  God forgives us so that we can extend forgiveness to others.  God blesses us so that we can bless others.  God saves us so that we can help to lead others to salvation.

If you are not saved and if you have not experienced the shelter and comfort found in the loving arms of your savior then I pray that there is someone that you can turn to that can help guide you into a relationship with Him.  You can also contact us through our website.

If you are experiencing all the wonderful blessings that God has to offer then I encourage you to share.  Share the love and forgiveness that God has given you.  Comfort those that are hurting just as God comforts us when we are hurting.  We live in such a cold, cruel world.  I encourage you to warm up your part of this world by sharing God with others.  Be a beacon in a world of darkness.

As Christians we should stand out.  I don’t mean by the way we dress or how we wear our hair, but by the way we act and the way that we treat others.

Perhaps you are not at a point in your walk with Christ where you can just approach a stranger and share your testimony with them but you can let them see Christ in you through your actions.  You can invite them to church.

I also caution you to be very protective of your witness.  Your mouth is your witness’ worst enemy.  Be careful about what you say and how you talk to people.  I always say that we need to be filled with God’s holy spirit to make it through the day.  And just as gas is used up when a car is running, we use the holy spirit up as we deal with other people throughout the day.  We must pray daily for God to fill us with his Holy Spirit so that we may extend love and kindness to others, even those that are unlovable.  One thing you must remember is that those unlovable people may have been placed in your path as a test to see how you will do in this particular situation.  Read your Bible and pray, this is the best way to study for these tests so that you can pass with flying colors every time.

Have a great day!
