Keep It Real

Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.  Matthew 7:15  HCSB

My grandmother used to say if someone would lie they would steal.  What she meant by that is that lying is wrong and if someone will cross the line and lie then they have no problem with doing what is wrong and they can’t be trusted in any matter.  They will cheat, they will steal or do whatever it takes, so you get the picture.

Now I am horrible at lying, but I will tell you that the times I have lied in my life, it has been to cover up sin or something that I am not proud of.  So, I understand why people lie.  I also understand, first hand, that this road leads only to destruction.  When we pretend to be good little church goers, but in actuality we are just faking it, it shows.

I have seen people come to church on Sunday and participate in Sunday school and praise and worship the Lord only to post something vulgar on social media right after church. Seriously?!!! Come on now, why can’t we just keep it real?  Who do you think you are fooling anyway?

Now let me say that I realize that no one is perfect.  We are all works in progress.  But at some point you have to pick a side.  And allow me to issue this word of warning, God knows.  He knows what you do on your social media, of course so does everyone else because it’s social media, hello???  He knows about the private messages that you send that are inappropriate.  He knows about the text that you send that you wouldn’t dare want your preacher or your Sunday School teacher to know about.

Luke 12:3 tells us that whatever we say in the dark will be heard in the light and whatever we whisper in an ear in private rooms will be shouted from the rooftops.  Matthew 7:22-23 says that many will say to Him Lord, Lord on the day of judgment and He will say, “depart from me you evildoer, I never knew you!”

We all have a choice to make, but I ask you that whatever choice you make, please keep it real.  If you choose to use vulgar language and even blaspheme the Lord your God then make that your choice and stick with it.  Know that it will lead you straight to hell, but again I say, it is your choice.  If you choose to worship God and surrender it all to Him even your lying and your problems with your tongue, then I encourage you to do just that.  God will help you with whatever problems you face.  If you have problems with sin, then confess them.  God is faithful to forgive us our sins and He will send His Holy Spirit into our hearts to help to rid us of our sins.

Now if you are in church, but you have a problem with sinning, know that I am not encouraging you to get out of church and give your life over to your sin.  I am encouraging you to turn to God and trust in Him to help you.  I am asking you to do what is best for you and what will give you eternal life.  James 4:7 tells us to submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.  But whatever you do, please get off the fence and please stop the lying.  God knows what you are doing. And if you are putting it out there on social media, so does everyone else.  I hope that you choose wisely.

Have a great day!
