Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold you up with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 CSB
In our Scripture passage today, Isaiah is prophesying to the Israelites their coming punishment for turning away and worshipping idols. He lets them know that even though they have messed up, God will be there for them. They need only to trust in Him.
We read in the Old Testament about those who were faithful and did well in Babylonian captivity like Daniel, Esther, and Nehemiah just to name a few.
It’s important to get to know our heavenly Father. It’s important to enter into a close relationship with our Lord and Savior. We need to understand that He disciplines His children when they do wrong. Don’t expect Him to allow your sin to go unpunished.
We need to understand that in His hands we have nothing to fear. He loves us more than we can imagine. He is there for us in good times and in bad. If we love Him with all our hearts and live our lives according to His purpose, He will work all things out for our good (Romans 8:28).
In 1986 Holly Dunn, a country music artist wrote and released a song for her dad for Father’s Day. The title was Daddy’s Hands. This song reminds me of my earthly father and the lyrics hold true for our heavenly Father as well.
She speaks of hands that were comforting and loving. Hands that were calloused from working to provide for us. Hands that sacrificed to give us what we need. Hands that patted her on the back when she’d done well.
The lyrics of the chorus say, “Daddy’s hands were soft and gentle when I was crying, Daddy’s hands were hard as steel when I’d done wrong. Daddy’s hands weren’t always gentle, but I’ve come to understand there was always love in Daddy’s hands.”
We have a heavenly Father who wants to uphold us with His righteous right hand. We must understand, however, that His hands are not forceful. He allows us to choose to be in His hands.
When we place ourselves in His hands, we have nothing to fear. When we trust in Him with all our heart, He will guide us along the right paths and make them straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). When we walk through the darkness, He will be our guiding light. When we are too tired to take another step, He will carry us.
If you are facing some trying times or the road you are walking has become more than you can bear, grab hold of the Father’s hand. He will get you through. Trust in Him today. You will be so glad you did.
Have a great day!
