In A World Full of Evil

When the LORD saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Then the LORD said, “I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky-for I regret that I made them.”
Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the LORD.     Genesis 6:5-8 HCSB

We look around the world and are easily distracted by all the evil that is going on. We are even seeing children targeted by evil companies. Laws are being made that target children. But this is not new to humanity. This is not the first time such widespread evil has existed in the world.

Way back in Genesis chapter 6, evil had become so widespread that God regretted making man. His solution to the problem was to erase humanity through the flood and start all over. But in all this evil, Noah found favor in the sight of the LORD. God sent the first rainbow as a sign that He would never again destroy the earth by flood. This is the true meaning of the rainbow, just so you know.

This would not be the last time God would destroy at least a part of the earth. Fast forward to Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19. In the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, evil had become so prevalent God couldn’t find even 10 righteous people there.

God destroyed the cities by raining burning sulfur on them. He spared Lot and his family. However, Lot’s wife looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt.

In the books of Isaiah and Jeremiah, these two prophets begged the nation of Israel to repent for their idolatry and avoid being taken captive by Babylon, but they refused to listen. They were taken captive, but God protected those who remained faithful. He even helped them to live as residents rather than slaves in Babylon. He caused them to flourish and brought them back to Jerusalem with a renewed heart for Him even better than when they left (Jeremiah 24:4-7).

Spencer Smith often says things are looking really good because things are looking really bad. Many believe that we are in the end times and the rapture will soon take place. I know many of my fellow Christians are ready to go.

It’s difficult to see such evil all around us and even more difficult when we find ourselves in situations where we have to fight against it.

But praise God we serve a God who is faithful. We serve a God who will provide for us and protect us in difficult times. He is our refuge in times of trouble. Don’t be distracted or deceived by the evil that is all around us. Be inspired by God’s Holy word. Know He’s got this.

We have many false teachers out there telling us it’s all good and that we can tolerate any type of behavior. We can participate in any type of behavior because we serve a loving God who would never discipline His children. Don’t believe those lies.

In a world full of evil, be a Noah. Noah preached and encouraged people to trust in God even though all those around Him scoffed at Him. He built an ark even though they had never had more than a mist in their land.

Be like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Don’t waiver in your trust in the Lord. Serve Him and refuse to bow down to idols.

In a world full of evil, focus on God and let Him take care of you. Don’t be distracted by the evil that is all around you. Don’t be misled by false teachers telling you that this evil behavior is okay, it’s not.

In a dark world, be a guiding light for those who are lost. Trust in God and help others to do the same.

Have a great day!
