I’m So Confused

Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules. The hard-working farmer ought to be the first to receive his share of the crops.

Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything,  2 Timothy 2:3-7 NASB

For God is not a god of confusion but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.  1 Corinthians 4:33 NASB

We are faced with so many decisions in any given day. We have so many choices in all that we do. According to various internet sources, adults make 35,000 decisions per day while children make 3,000. That’s a lot of decisions, my friend.

There have been times in my life where all I could manage to say was, “I am so confused”. I was conflicted about how I should handle a certain situation or what I should do.There are still times, which fortunately are now brief moments, when uncertainty creeps in. But I have learned that when I follow God’s plan for me, everything is crystal clear.

Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has good plans for us. He is not the author of confusion. When we give it all to God and trust in Him, He will guide us in the way that we should go. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to Trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean to our own understanding. It tells us to acknowledge Him in all that we do and He will make our paths straight.

Our first scripture passage tells us that no soldier in active duty gets himself entangled in the affairs of everyday life. We are to be soldiers for Christ. As Christians, this means that we allow God to handle the day to day stuff and we handle our Christians duties which are following His commands and leading others to Christ. If we handle His business, He handles our business, neat how that works isn’t it?

The athlete is disqualified if they do not compete according to the rules. We must live by God’s commands. He sent His son to serve as an example as to how we should live and to give His life so that our sins may be forgiven. His word is very clear, there is no confusion there. We must keep an open line of communication through prayer and bible study.

When we are faced with difficult decisions, we must remember that God knows what our future holds. He knows what lies ahead. Without God we are stumbling in the dark. When we trust in Him, He will light the way. I can look back on times in my life when God’s answer to my prayer was no. Years later I was so thankful that He had not granted my request. He had much better plans for me. I have learned to turn to Him with each and every decision I face. I have learned to trust in Him.

I have also learned the hard way that jumping off into things without consulting Him is not wise at all. Some of the biggest mistakes I have made have been due to my barreling off into a project without praying about it first. God wants good things for us. He wants the best for us. But, we have to give our lives over to Him. We have to trust in Him.

God’s way is always the best way. It is clear and not confusing. If you are facing a tough decision and confused about what you should do, just give it all over to Him. He will take care of it. Allow Him to guide you in all that you do and you will spend a lot less time being confused.

Have a great day!
