I’m Going Home

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places;  if not, I would have told you.  I am going away to prepare a place for you.  If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also.  John 14:2-3  HCSB

Our former pastor used to tell us that if we went to hell that we would go as trespassers.  Jesus is telling His disciples that His father has many places for us to reside and that He is going to prepare a place for us and that He will come back and get us.  That is our home.  That is where we are meant to be.

Now let me say that I enjoy traveling.  I like to get away from time to time and see some different scenery, but I also enjoy coming home.  I had an opportunity many years ago to move to Florida.  Sunny beaches, Disneyworld, warm climate, what’s not to like?  Well, it was nice, but it wasn’t home.  After a few visits, I realized that I really  looked forward to seeing that sign that said Bienvenue en Louisiane, or Welcome to Louisiana for those or you who have never seen our signs.  Now as I have gotten older, the hotter climate here leaves me longing for a climate with all four seasons.  Here we just have really hot and really cold with little in between.

When I built my house 18 years ago, I realized that I really liked being at home.  For several years, I had lived in my grandmother’s old house which was very, very cold in the winter.  It had little insulation and keeping it warm was almost impossible.  But in my new home, I was comfortable.

But wherever I lay my head, I am not home yet.  I am just passing through.  You see, I have come to realize that this life here is just a layover on my journey home.  I am speaking of my heavenly home with my heavenly Father.  I am speaking of the home where I know I will be welcomed home by loved ones that have gone before me.  I will enter a place where there is no more chaos and confusion.  I will enter a place where there is no hatred and no evil.  I will enter a place where for eternity, that’s forever and ever, I will feel at peace.  I will feel loved and rested. A place where we all can really live happily forever after!  Wow!  I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait.

Now if you are reading this and you are saying something like, “I hope I can get there” or “I’m not sure if I would go to heaven”.  I want you to ask yourself this question.  If you were called to judgement right this very second, before you could finish reading this, would you go to heaven or would you go to hell?  This is the most important question, you will ever ask yourself.  If you could not answer with 100 percent certainty that you would go to heaven then I beg you to be sure.  I beg you to take the steps necessary to know, that you know, that you know, that you are saved and are headed to your heavenly home with your heavenly Father.

If you feel lost perhaps it is because you are wandering around in a “no trespassing” zone.  Perhaps you are on a pathway leading to a lake of fire.  This is not where you want to spend eternity.  Trust me on this one.  Louisiana summers are hot enough.

Also, if you are lying to yourself, then stop it.  I spent many years with one foot in the world and one foot in church, thinking that I was doing ok.  I was thinking that if Jesus came for me that I would somehow make it to heaven.  I was kidding myself.  When I finally got tired of the turmoil and chaos that had become my life, I asked God what I needed to do.  He was happy to guide me every step of the way.  I committed my life to Him.  I made church attendance my first priority.  I made tithing my first financial priority.  I committed all of my life to God.  I even gave my sinful behavior over to Him.  He helped me to put away my sin and strive to live a life of righteousness.  Oh sure, I mess up from time to time, but praise God, He’s quick to convict me and set me back on the right path.

It’s not too late to buy your ticket home.  Maybe you’ve been wandering around lost for way too long.  Turn to God and allow Him to guide you home.  If you are unsure about your salvation, turn to a pastor or contact us through this website.  God has room for each and everyone of us.  He made us so that we could spend eternity with Him.  He never intended for anyone to go to hell.  So the ball is in your court and the clock is counting down.  Don’t drop the ball.

Have a great day!
