What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; how will He not also with Him grant us everything?
Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies. Romans 8:31-33 HCSB
In my Bible, this section of Romans chapter 8 has the title, The Believer’s Triumph, above it. Just a few verses up in Romans 8:28 we are told that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. It does not say all things work for the good of everyone, but only for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose or those who are doing the work He has called them to do.
It took me many years, but I have finally reached a point in my life where I want even the bad things to work for my good. I want the confidence in knowing that God’s got my back. I want to know that those who come against me will not succeed. I know that in order for these things to hold true, I must believe. We don’t become believers by simply believing that God exists. That is just the start of it. Many people claim to believe in God.
But the question is do you live your life as though He truly exists? Do you trust in Him? Do you love Him with all your heart, all your soul and all your mind (Matthew 22:37)? Do you put Him first in your life? Matthew 6:33 tells us that if we will put God first and focus on Him, He will take care of us and provide all we need. He will handle the problems that come our way. He will work all things out for our good. We can rest assured that if He is for us, those who come against us can’t succeed.
If you are not concerned for yourself, what about your children and those around you that you love? Are you doing all you can to be sure that they are believers? Are you doing all you can to see to it that they come to understand what it really means to believe in God? Are you doing all you can to be sure that they are protected under that umbrella of protection that God provides for His children? I hope so, because in these end times we all need this. We all need to be living in the shelter that only God can provide (Psalm 91:1).
You can have fences, gates, cameras, weapons, and alarm systems, but nothing or no one can protect you and your family like God can. When I feel like the enemy is coming against me in a mighty way, I like to recite Romans 8:31. I like to remind myself that if God is for me, who can be against me? Who can stand up against the Almighty God that is my refuge and my fortress, the God in whom I trust (Psalm 91:2)? I know there is nothing this world can throw at me that God can’t protect me from.
If you want that kind of protection and security in your life, simply turn to God. Give it all over to Him. Love Him with all your heart, all your mind and all your soul (Matthew 22:37). Trust in Him to take good care of you. Share His love with those around you and try to be sure your family believes and is secure in Him. Pray daily for God’s hedge of protection around yourself and those you love.
If you find yourself fearful of what type of harm others may do to you or someone you love, focus on Him. Trust in Him to take care of all the rest. He provides that kind of protection. Don’t you want to secure that for yourself and your loved ones today?
Have a great day!
