Commit your activities to the LORD, and your plans will be achieved. The LORD has prepared everything for His purpose-even the wicked for the day of disaster. Proverbs 16:3-4 HCSB
Well, there you have it. If you want to be successful in all you do, commit your activities to the LORD. That sounds simple doesn’t it, but unfortunately it’s not so easy. Why? Because life tends to get in the way. We get so busy trying to get ahead, we forget where our help comes from. We forget who we are working for. We lose sight of our end goal.
We are put here on earth to serve a purpose for the LORD. All those little plans we make for ourselves, well they are just extras. They are just icing on the cake or blessings that God provides. But these blessings are not meant to become idols. They are not meant to become our focus or what we work for. They are meant to simply be extras that we praise God for giving us.
We are here to work for God. We are here to fulfill the purpose and ultimately to achieve this work that He has laid out for us. Our end goal is to spend eternity in heaven with God the Father. If we want to be successful we have to understanding who we are working for. Colossians 3:23 tells us that whatever we do, we should work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. If you work for God, you always have a boss that loves you and who is easy for you to love.
Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. When we work for the Lord, we want to be in His will. We want to be doing what He has called us to do. Because of our love for Him, we want to do the things that please Him. We want to act in a way that is pleasing to Him and that brings Him glory, honor and praise.
In John 14:13, Jesus said, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” This is a verse that people like to get twisted. Some may say, “So, if I ask to win the lottery, this means I will.” No, it doesn’t. What this means is that when we love the Lord, we want His will to be done above all. In verse 12 Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do.” If we believe in the Lord and truly love Him, we want what He wants. Our will aligns with His will. So, of course, if we are all on the same page, whatever we ask for He will give us because we are asking for something that is within His will.
Then if we read a little farther down in verse 15, Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” When we love the Lord, we want to be in His will. We want to keep His commandments. We want to live the way He has instructed us to live. We want to commit our ways to Him. When we commit our ways to Him, we can be successful in the things we do because we are working for Him and doing what He has called us to do. When we align our will with His, our prayers will be answered because we are asking for His will to be done.
Simply put, the best way to be successful is to be in His will. When we align our will with His will, we can’t lose. When we commit our ways to Him, our plans will be achieved.
If lately you feel like you are spinning your wheels, think about what or who you are truly committed to. Commit your ways to Him, trust in Him and acknowledge Him in all that you do and He will guide you in the right way (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Have a great day!
