“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.”

Unfortunately, we all have enemies. Some we may not even know about. When we strive to please God, we sometimes inadvertently make more enemies. Some will shun us when we lose our sinful ways. When we become that new creature in Christ that we spoke of several days ago, our old friends may become our new enemies.
I am the kind of person that really tries to get along with everyone. But through the course of my life I have encountered several people that just didn’t like me. Some were sly with it and just tried to stab me in the back. Some were just outright honest about the fact. The funny thing I have found is that when I just go on about my business these people have usually come around, and several of them have become my friends. Others have gone their separate ways which is fine too. I figure God is in control and he knows best.
Either way I have learned that as a Christian I have a job to do, focus on God and please Him. I need to please God with the way I act, the way I speak, and the way I treat others. I need to especially please God with the way I treat my enemies.
A year ago I came under attack along with several other family members. You see when you attack me that’s one thing. You attack my loved ones and I lose it, or at least I used to. This trial has taught me that God is in complete control. The devil knew that attacking only me might not get the response he wanted, so he included those I dearly love in the attack. It was a good distraction technique for a short time. I then realized that God will protect me and my family. I began to pray Psalm 91 and called on God for the protection this Psalm promises. He answered my prayers and has kept us protected. I realized that if I kept my focus on God and prayed for my enemies that God would fight this battle for me. There have been days that I have literally felt like Moses walking through the Red Sea on dry ground.
Focus on God. Please God. God will take care of the rest.
As for me and my family, the battle still rages. God has fought the fight every step of the way. We have just had to focus on doing the right thing in God’s eyes.
My friend, I want you to know that God will do the same for you. All you have to do is ask.
So today in everything you do, seek first to please God, you will be amazed at how He works for your good. Have a great day!
