It’s A God Thing

Mary asked the angel, “How can this be, since I have not been intimate with a man?”

The angel replied to her:  “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most high will overshadow you.  Therefore, the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

And consider your cousin Elizabeth-even she has conceived  a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called childless.  For nothing will be impossible with God.”  Luke 1:34-37  HCSB

I have had things happen in my life that have made me know that they were nothing short of a miracle, a true God given miracle.  I have many examples.  I have two nieces that almost died, one during her birth and another a few weeks after she was born. They are now beautiful young women, one 7 and one almost 15 which is so hard to believe.  They are growing up way too fast. They are not only alive and well, but they are thriving. How did that happen?  God, that’s how it happened.  God could have brought them up to be his angels, but He was kind enough to leave them here to be ours.

My mom has dementia and lives with me.  Good sitters are not so easy to find, but I have been blessed with five women that are good to my mom and my mom loves them.  I often have people ask me, “How did that happen?”  I always tells them that it was a God thing.  I could go on and on, but you get it, right?

You see there are times when we face impossible situations.  Can you imagine Mary and the fear she must have felt when this angel shows up and says, “you have found favor with God and you are going to give birth to the Messiah and raise Him as your own child” ?  Mary asked the angel, Gabriel, how can this happen, I am a virgin.  No problem, nothing is impossible with God.

This morning, I will keep it short and sweet.  If you are facing some type of difficult situation, know that nothing is impossible with God.  If we truly believe in Him and accept Christ as our savior and confess our sins to Him and ask Him to come into our heart, He will save us.  We may go through some hard times, but He will be right there with us and He will never forsake us so that we have nothing to fear (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Christmas can be a wonderful time of make believe, but believe this.  We serve a God that loves us all and wants us all to be His children.  He wants you to draw near to him, so that He can protect you and bless you.  If you are facing difficult times or you are uncertain about how you are going to work something out, know that nothing is impossible with God.  If you are wondering how it can happen, know that God can make it happen.

He brought the Messiah into the world through a virgin birth, He caused a barren woman to have a child.  He blessed Abraham and Sarah with a child when they were well passed their child bearing years.  He helped a young David kill a giant with a sling and a stone.  He kept Daniel safe in the lion’s den through the night.  He walked Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego through a fiery furnace and they came out unharmed without even the smell of smoke on their clothes.  The Bible is full of many more miracles, believe this, God can do it.

He can handle whatever it is you are facing today.  Give it over to Him and rest in His loving arms.

Have a great day!
