Got plans?

Woe to those who plan iniquity, to those who plot evil on their beds!  At morning’s light they carry it out because it is in their power to do it.  They covet fields and seize them, and houses and take them.  They defraud people of their homes, they rob them of their inheritance.

Therefore the Lord says:  “I am planning disaster against this people, from which you cannot save yourselves.  You will no longer walk proudly for it will be a time of calamity.    Micah 2:1-3  NIV

We all know that in this day and time there is certainly no shortage of wicked people in this world.  There are plenty of people who plot evil against others.

People plot evil, wicked plans for all sorts of reasons.  Sometimes it is for revenge.  They want to avenge themselves.  We know that we are to leave the vengeance to the Lord (Romans 12:19).  The Bible also tells us that we overcome evil, not with evil, but with good (Romans 12:21).

Our scripture passage today speaks of what God plans to do when man plans to do evil.  The first part of our scripture passage talks of the evil that people plot against others, but the last part tells how God plans disaster for these wicked people.  It talks about how there is nothing they can do to stop it.

So as you start your day, what kind of plans do you have?  Do you have plans to do good for someone else?  Do your plans bring comfort or joy to others?  Do your plans bring disaster for someone else?  What do you have planned?  Whatever I plan in any given day, I begin by asking God to guide me.  I ask Him to work my day out.  I ask Him to help me make  good use of my time.

But I will be totally honest with you.  Sometimes I get angry at people.  Sometimes I don’t like what someone has done to me or to someone else.   When thoughts of bitterness and revenge creep into my mind.  I know that I have to pray and ask God to remove them.  I have to pray for that person.  I don’t know about you, but I get into trouble when my focus is small.  When I think just about the present moment and fail to consider the future is when I get into trouble.  I have to think beyond what that person did.  I have to think about what God would have me to do.  I have to handle things the right way.

We must remember that when people are wicked and plot evil against us, they are being used by the devil.  If we try to repay evil for evil, then we are allowing the devil to use us.  We are no longer working for God, because God never calls us to plot evil or much less to carry out evil against other people.

This morning, I encourage you to turn to God’s word when someone has wronged you or someone you love.  Don’t allow yourself to fall into the trap of the wicked.  Don’t allow yourself to be drawn in by unforgiveness and bitterness.  Don’t allow pride to get ahold of you and separate you from God.

The Bible is very clear and has many passages about how God handles evil, wicked people.  Many of these passages say that the wicked will perish.

The good news is that there are even more verses about the blessings that God intends to bestow on the good people.  God wants us to turn to Him and trust in Him to handle our problems.  Believe me, he will deal with people that come against His children better than you could ever dream about doing.  So just let Him handle it.

If you are angry with someone, please don’t allow the devil to use your anger as a doorway to get into your life and take over.  Give that anger and bitterness over to God and allow Him to deal with that person.  Don’t start plotting evil against that person.

If you have someone that is plotting evil against you, give that over to God as well.  God doesn’t take it lightly when others plot evil against His children.  He will deal with them.  The Bible tells us to reject every kind of evil in 1 Thessalonians 5:22.  We are told to steer clear of evil.

As you plan your day, be sure that your plans line up with God’s plans for you.  We can do this by starting our day with prayer,  talking to God.  We can also begin by reading His word and allowing Him to talk to us.  If you want things to go well, let God direct your path (Proverbs 3:6). If your path seems a little crooked, it’s okay, God can straighten it out.

Have a great day!
