Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows!
Luke 12:6-7 HCSB
Have you ever felt as though no one cared about the struggles you are going through? Does it ever seem like you are getting pressure from all sides and the harder you work the farther behind you get? Have you ever felt as though you were fighting a battle that is impossible to win?
We all feel defeated and frustrated at times. We all have times where we are afraid of what’s coming next or we are afraid that we won’t be able to measure up. But our scripture passage today tells us not to be afraid. This is one of many passages in the Bible that tells us not to be afraid. I have heard it said that there are 365, one for each day of the year.
Life is hard. I won’t candy coat it. I would love to tell you that if you accept Christ as your Savior that you will live in a land of rainbows and gumdrops until Christ returns to bring us to our heavenly, eternal, home. But, I don’t want to lie to you. The life of a Christian is hard at times.
So, if you are not a Christian, then this is probably the point where you are wondering what is the point of being a Christian if we are going to suffer like the next guy. Well, I’m glad you asked. You see, when we accept Christ as our Savior, we are being adopted into God’s family. And you may have heard the old saying, “Mess with me and you mess with my family.” As Christians, we have a redeemer, we have a protector, we have a miracle worker, we have someone to fight our battles for us. We may suffer, but we are told in 1 Peter 5:10 that God Himself will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support us after we have suffered a little while. We are told in 1 Peter 5:7 that we can cast all our care on Him because He cares for us.
So, when you are feeling down and lonely know that God cares. When life leaves you feeling like the Lone Ranger in an ambush without even Tonto to help out, know that God is there for you. God knows you personally, even down to the number of hairs on your head. He is longing for you to cry out to Him for the kind of help and rescue that a loving Father provides for a child. He wants to fight your battles for you. He does not want you to go through this alone.
We will have hard times here on earth. But if we focus on God and not our problems, He will take care of everything for us. If He knows when a sparrow falls to the ground, then He certainly knows when His child is in trouble. He is there for you if you will allow Him to be. He wants to save you, but you must accept His salvation.
When you are down and think that no one cares for you, know that God does. When you are exhausted from fighting this battle and think that there is no one willing to fight for you and rescue you, know that God is. When you are weary and thinking that no one cares that you need rest, know that God does. When you are in great sorrow and crying a river and thinking that there is no one to wipe the tears from your eyes, know that God will. We are told in Revelation 21:4 that He will wipe every tear from our eyes.
This world can break us down, it can leave us feeling lonely and frustrated. It can leave us thinking that there is no one we can trust, but my friend God is there for you. God cares for you. He is waiting for open arms to receive you into His family. What are you waiting for?
When you think that no one cares enough to come to your rescue, know that God does. All you have to do is ask and He will be there.
Have a great day!
