Get Some Rest

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”     Matthew 11:28-30 HCSB

If you are tired of being tired, there is a place to find rest. You can turn to Jesus. This world can drain us and leave us feeling empty and weary and burdened. But here in our Scripture passage, Jesus tells us that we should come to Him if we are weary and burdened and He will give us rest.

As we go deeper into the end times things just seem to get worse. There are cities in total chaos. There are leaders that are as my pastor would say, “lost as a baseball in high weeds.” Crime runs rampant. Things are so backwards these days. My friend always just looks at me when I say that and says, “Isaiah 5:20”.  Isaiah 5:20 says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” We are seeing a lot of that going on these days. We are seeing evil behavior shoved down our throats. We are called prejudiced or biased if we don’t support their evil behavior. They try to tell us that we are the ones who are wrong.

It’s come to the point where I dread the commercials that come on television these days. Agendas that are contrary to what the Bible teaches are being pushed upon us through these ads. Stores tell us it’s okay if a pedophile wants to go into the restroom with our male or female child as long as they identify themselves as transgender or whatever gender they are choosing on that specific day. It’s insanity when you think about all that is going on in this world. It can bring on stress, anxiety and cause depression and exhaustion. This is why it is so important that we come to Jesus. This is why we must focus on Him. Don’t be distracted by all the evil in the world. Know that He is our refuge and our fortress in these trying times (Psalm 91:2). Psalm 91:1 assures us that those of us who live under the protection of the Most High will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.

My friend if day to day living has left you weary and burdened, you are not alone. You can turn to Jesus. He will give you rest. You can trust in Him. 1 Peter 5:6-7 tells us to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt us at the proper time, casting all our care on Him, because He cares about us. The almighty God, the ruler of the universe cares about us. He knows the number of hairs on our head (Luke 12:7). He knows our names; He loves us and wants us to come to Him.

If you are tired of being tired and stressed out, turn to Jesus. He will give you rest. All you have to do is surrender yourself to Him. If rest sounds like something you desperately need, He is willing and able to provide it for you. What are you waiting for? Get you some rest.

Have a great day!
