Don’t stop doing good!

Do not be deceived:  God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Whoever sows to please their flesh will reap destruction;  whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.  Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.  Galatians 6:7-10

The first part of this scripture is very important for believers and non-believers alike.  Do not be deceived.  As we live through these end times, we must be vigilant and not be deceived. There are many who practice deceit and we must pray for wisdom and discernment.  The enemy is always trying to deceive us so we must be very careful.

If anyone believes that they can sow evil or that they can practice wickedness and get away with that, woe unto them.  You’ve heard me say many times before that God doesn’t like ugly.  Don’t ever think that you will just get away with that type of behavior in the long run.  The Bible tells us that the wicked will perish.

This scripture passage tells us that whoever sows to please their flesh will reap destruction.  Well, I would not advise you to try this one out because I can tell you that it is true.  When we try to please the flesh the results are never good.  We talked yesterday about being a new person in Christ.  Even when we become a new person in Christ, we are still tempted to satisfy the flesh.  This is where keeping our focus on the Spirit comes in handy.  If we stay focused on God, then it is easier to resist the temptation of the devil and resist the urge to please the flesh.

We should always strive to please the Spirit for we know that this is the way to eternal life.

The next part of this scripture passage says do not become weary in doing good.  This is easier said than done.  We have talked in the past about loving the unlovable.  I have encountered people that no matter how nice you are to them and how many nice things you do for them, they will not be happy with you.  They may even put down on you to others. They may tells lies about you.  It’s not easy to keep doing good in this case, but let me tell you something, God has bigger and better plans for you.  God will reward you if you just keep on keeping on.  Don’t let the devil that is influencing that person to be mean and nasty influence you to stop being good to them.  That same devil that is making them mean is trying his best to make you just like them.  Don’t let him do it.

Do good to all people, even the unlovable, but especially those who belong to the family of believers.  This is what I love most about being a family member in that family of believers.  People are always there to lend a word of encouragement or a helping hand.  This is why I always encourage you, especially if you are a new believer, to find a good support system in a good mentor and a good church where you can be nourished and grow in your faith.

Pray today that God will put someone in your path to help, pray that He will put someone in your path that you may witness to and show them God’s love.

My prayer for you today is that you do not become weary in well doing.  If you find yourself becoming weary remember the Bible tells us that all who are weary can turn to Him and He will give us rest. Also, it is important to remember that while we should not become weary in well doing but the Bible also encourages us not to cast our pearls to swine.  This means that we are to try to witness to others, we are to try to be good to them.  If they refuse to accept this, however, it is okay to walk away and pray for them.  It is okay to love them and pray for them from a safe distance.

Jesus told His disciples that if the people in a certain town refused to accept them to leave the town and shake the dust from that town off their feet.

So the bottom line here is that as Christians we are always called to imitate Christ and be good to others.  If others reject that, then it is okay to move on.  The trick is moving on in a Christ like manner.  We don’t have to get angry we just have to let them know that we will be praying for them and are there for them should they have a change of heart.

Have a great day!
