Then I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and against His army. But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with him the false prophet, who had performed the signs in his presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image with these signs. Both of them were thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword that came from the mouth of the rider on the horse and all the birds were filled with their flesh. Revelation 19:19-21 HCSB
We all want to win. We want to be successful in our endeavors. We’re never happy when our team loses. We don’t want to miss out on the promotion. We don’t want to be turned down after the job interview. There are times on this earth when we will experience failure. There are times we will feel that we don’t measure up.
It’s important to know, however, the only way we can truly be a loser is to reject Jesus Christ. The things on this earth are temporary. They are passing away.
Many of us hesitate to read the book of Revelation. There were several times I would start out in January intending to read my Bible through the year. I would read all the way to Revelation and stop. I had a number of what I thought were good excuses. I didn’t understand it. I found it too scary. It was too confusing.
Back in 2012, our pastor did a 29-week study in the book of Revelation. I didn’t miss a class and I took notes. Through his explanation of this book that had greatly intimidated me in the past, I began to understand that the bottom line is we win. By we, I mean those of us who have surrendered our lives to Christ.
The devil was defeated at Calvary. He’s already a loser. He always has been. He is only able to do what God allows Him to do. Read the first couple chapters of Job and you will clearly see this.
If we want to win, we must be on the winning team. We can only be on this team when we surrender our lives to Christ. We must trust in Him. We are told in Romans 8:31 if God is for us who can be against us? In Romans 8:37, Paul tells us we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Jesus is the way the truth and the life, no man can come to God the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If we reject Him, we lose, it’s that simple. Jesus said in Matthew 10:33, anyone who rejects Him before man, He will reject them before God the Father in heaven.
I used to consider the book of Revelation to be frightening and overwhelming. Since studying the book, I have discovered it’s all about victory. It’s about Jesus’ final victory over Satan. It’s about the victory of those of us who have faithfully endured.
I have begun studying the book in order to present it to you in a way that is not frightening or overwhelming. If God is willing, I will begin presenting this in the beginning of the New Year. Please pray for me as I study and prepare to walk with you through studying this wonderful book on the victory of the believers.
The scariest parts of this book are when Jesus describes to John what will happen to non-believers. We need to read and understand this book. God gave us this book so we will have a better understanding of what our future holds. He gave it to us so we can be sure that we aren’t losers. We can win, but only through Him.
Have a great day!
