Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord proclaim that He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe and has gathered them from the lands-from the east and the west, from the north and the south. Some wandered in the desolate wilderness, finding no way to a city where they could live. They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits failed them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He rescued them from their distress. He led them by the right path to go to a city where they could live. Let them give thanks to the Lord for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. Psalm 107:2-8 HCSB
Last night I had the opportunity to attend a revival service at Blood River Baptist Church in Albany, LA. It was a great service! Brother Price Harris led the music and Brother Joe Aulds delivered the message and they always do an outstanding job. You can tell that they are truly led by God. I have been to several revivals done by Brother Price and Brother Joe, and one thing Brother Joe always does near the end of his message is ask this question. If you died tonight do you know beyond a doubt that you would go to heaven? For those that raise their hands, he quotes Psalm 107:2.
So since it is a really good question to ask, let me ask you today, if you died right now are you absolutely sure that you would go to heaven to spend eternity with God the Father? Do you know that you know, that you know, that you are saved? Is there absolutely no doubt whatsoever in your mind? If you are positive that you are heaven bound then that is awesome! Keep up the good work!
Now if you are not sure, then let me tell you that you need to be sure. You need to know that you know, that you know that you are saved and headed for eternity in heaven. The alternative is eternity in hell and no one wants that. God wants each and everyone of us to be saved. He wants us to come to Him and spend eternity with Him, but He won’t force us to do it. He gives us a choice.
If you are not sure that you are saved, then I strongly encourage you to speak to a pastor or a close Christian friend. If you are not in church, find a good Bible teaching church. Be sure that what is being taught there lines up with what is in the Bible. I urge you to do this with great urgency because none of us know how much time we have left on planet earth.
Now if you know that you know, that you know, that you are saved and headed for your home in heaven, that’s great. But as the scripture says, be prepared to explain how you know this. If you are saved and in close relationship with Jesus Christ then it is your job to speak to those that are not saved or are unsure about their salvation and help to lead them to salvation. I don’t know about you, but even though I was saved at the age of 12, I spent many years backsliding and not living the way I should. God pulled me up out of the wilderness. I was hungry for God’s word. I was dying of thirst in need of His living water. God heard my cry and saved me from myself. When I talk to people whose lives are in chaos and destruction, I can relay this to them. I can explain why I have this hope inside of me. I can explain how I got the peace and joy that I have in my life. I have been redeemed! Praise God!
All can have this same experience. Heaven is huge, there is plenty of room for everybody. God wants us all to come and spend eternity with Him.
So think about it, if you died right now, are you absolutely, positively sure that you would go to heaven? If you are not, it’s not too late. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Cry out to God and ask Him to help you.
If you are absolutely, positively sure that you are saved and headed to heaven, then it is your responsibility to bring as many people as you can along with you. It is your responsibility to talk to people about Christ. It is your responsibility to spread the gospel. That’s not always so easy to do, pray to God to put people in your path that need to hear His word. Also pray that when someone asks you why you are so happy or so hopeful that you can share with them what God has done in your life. And most importantly do as the scripture says, “let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story-those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.”
Have a great day!
