Covered By The Blood

The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.  Exodus 12:13 NASB

With the spread of the Coronavirus we are seeing things that I don’t ever recall seeing in my years on the planet. We are seeing schools shut down for an entire month. We are seeing events postponed. Is this panic or merely precautions?

Either way I want to ask you if you are covered by the blood. You see Jesus Christ died for our sins. We have to accept the salvation that He provided. Have you done that? Are you a believer? Do you love and serve the LORD your God? If so, then know that you are covered by the blood. It’s better than any insurance plan on the planet.

When we accept Christ as our savior and choose to live in His shelter, He becomes our refuge and our fortress (Psalm 91). We can trust in Him. In our scripture passage today, Pharaoh had hardened his heart and was refusing to allow the Egyptians to go as Moses had requested. So, God began to send plagues upon their nation. God was going to kill the firstborn male of each family, but told the Israelites to slaughter a lamb, eat the meat and put the blood of the lamb on the doorposts of their homes so that He would pass by and not kill their firstborn male. They would be saved by the blood of the lamb just as we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ who became the sacrificial lamb so that we could be saved from death caused by our sins.

People often ask why God allows things like the Coronavirus to happen? Well, just as Adam and Even’s sin caused a whole host of generational curses, our sins cause disasters. Sadly when this happens the good sometimes suffer with the bad. Now that may not seem fair, but the difference is that if we love the Lord and are doing as He has called us to do, He will work all this out for our good (Romans 8:28).

So, we can trust in God and know that we are safe in Him or we can panic. I choose to trust in God. The great thing about being a Christian is that it’s win-win. You see the worst possible thing that could happen to someone suffering this dreaded virus is that they could die. The best thing to ever happen to a Christian is we die a physical death here on earth and go to live eternally in heaven with God our Father. We can’t lose.

My prayer for you today is that you are covered by the blood and you fully understand what that means. It means that God’s got this. You are protected by Him. Yes you should take proper precautions, but walk in faith and trust in Him. Psalm 91:9-12 says, “For you have made the LORD, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands so that you do not strike your foot against a stone.

You can’t always trust the internet or even the government, but you can always trust in God. Seek refuge in Him today.

Have a great weekend!
