In fact, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. Evil people and impostors will become worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 3:12-15 HCSB
When we try to lead others to the Lord, we focus on the fact that God will be with us no matter what trials and tribulations we go through. In all honesty though, we can’t tell someone if they accept Christ, all will be well. We can’t promise rainbows and lollipops because the Bible tells us if we strive to live a godly life we will be persecuted.
In 2 Timothy 3:1-6 it speaks of the evil behavior we will see exhibited in the end times and we are certainly seeing this now. In our Scripture passage for today, we are warned of persecution. We know that the evil will get worse. They will attempt to deceive us, and they will be deceived into believing the devil.
This is why it is so important for those of us who have answered the call of Salvation to press on. If we have learned about Christ and believe in Him, we must continue to live in a way that brings Him glory, honor and praise. We must focus on His word. We gain wisdom from His word. We gain understanding from His word.
We are given wisdom so that we can be saved. God gives us a choice. When we study His word and get to know Him, we have a deeper understanding of His plans for us. We come to understand how He will protect us when the going gets tough. And we come to know that the going will be tough at times.
Many people believe they can simply be a good person, and this will get them into heaven. We are told, however, in John 14:6 that we can only enter into the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ, our Savior. We are told He is the way, the truth and the life and that no man comes to God the Father except through Him.
We face times and situations in our country that appear to be lose/lose. No matter what the outcome, it doesn’t look good. I can’t help but wonder if this is because we have begun to put so much faith in human beings and so little faith in God. We have traded our Biblical learning and knowledge of the truth for believing in man over believing and trusting in God.
We can’t change our nation or the world, but we can live a godly life. We can do so knowing we will be persecuted. We can remain strong in our faith even in trying times. We can focus on His word and live in a way that brings God glory, honor and praise. We can trust in Him. We can do our best to lead others to Christ to grow the family of Christ.
We will face trials and persecutions, evil people will get worse, but God remains constant. We can trust Him to take good care of us in trying times.
As things continue to get worse in the evil, wicked world, trust in God. He’s got this and He’s got you. He won’t let you down.
Have a great day!
