But He is Strong

But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”  Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more in my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me. So, I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.     2 Corinthians 12:9-10 HCSB

Jesus loves me, this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. I grew up singing this song as a child. It would be many years later before I would understand the meaning of those words and how they correlate to today’s Scripture passage.

I have come to realize that my strength or my weakness is irrelevant. It’s His strength that sustains me. Philippians 4:13 says, I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. There is nothing He will ever call me to do that I will be too weak to do because He will always provide the strength.

God calls on us to be strong, but we are never expected to be strong on our own. When we are weak, He is strong. He gives us strength. I consider myself a strong person, but there have been times when I have felt rundown and weak. There have been times when the drain from living day to day on planet earth has been too much.

In Isaiah 41:10 God tells the Israelites, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.” I study His word and pray to Him daily. I live my life in His presence holding onto His righteous right hand.

We study to make our minds sharper. We lift weights to gain physical strength. None of us has any strength, however, unless it is God given. I pray and study His word to draw from His strength and to receive His grace.

If you have great physical strength, thank God for that. If you have great mental ability, thank God for that. We need to realize that whatever we have comes from God.

We must remember when times are tough, we can rely on Him. We must also remember in good times to be grateful for His presence in our lives.

The times when I am weak, well that’s okay, because He is strong. I can lean on Him. I can trust in Him. He will give me all the strength I need.

I know all things are possible for Him (Luke 1:37). I know His grace is sufficient for me and His power is perfected in my weakness.

Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. And I know I am weak, but He is strong. And that’s all I need to know.

Put your trust in Him. He will be there to hold you up and give you strength. This you can know because the Bible tells you so.

Have a great day!
