Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.
Galatians 6:7-8 HCSB
Trying to mock God is like trying to use your shoulder and your body strength to break through a cinder block wall. You are deceiving yourself if you think this is a good idea. It’s only going to give you a massive amount of pain.
Our Scripture passage tells us God is not mocked. We may try to mock Him, but it’s not possible. If we try to do so, we are only deceiving ourselves. The Bible tells us in numerous passages not to be deceived. The devil will tell us lies and we must pray for wisdom and discernment. We must study the Scriptures so as not to be deceived.
Many get saved and believe they can do as they please and God will allow it. But this is not true. Our pastor often says when someone gets saved and continues in their old sinful ways, “What were you saved from?” One could look at this as mocking God, but God can’t be mocked. But we can be deceived.
We can deceive ourselves or be deceived by the devil’s lies but we can’t mock God.
We are going to reap what we sow without exception. The flesh is always in opposition to the Spirit. The flesh is what we naturally tend to want, and the Spirit is what we need in order to be in right standing with our Lord and Savior.
This is a spiritual war that we deal with on a continual basis. God has provided armor for our protection and this armor is listed in Ephesians 6:10-18. We should daily suit up in this armor in order to be victorious.
Only the victors or the overcomers will be accepted into the kingdom of heaven. When we go against God’s will and do as we please and disregard His commands, we are deceiving ourselves. Jesus points this out in Matthew 7:21.
There has been alarming trend since prayer was removed from the schools and the Ten Commandments from public building like courthouses. This trend has been a decline in morals. We see our nation sinking lower into depravity.
When the subject of something so heinous comes up between me and my friend, she often simply says, “Isaiah 5:20” which says, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” We are seeing this Scripture lived out before our very eyes.
Those who follow the Lord are becoming the bad guys while those who go against His commands are protected by our government and in the workplace.
Man’s depravity is nothing new. It’s been around since the serpent deceived Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. In Noah’s day, God was so upset with the widespread evil on the earth, He sent the flood to destroy everyone except Noah and his family.
My friend if you believe you’ve been saved, there are a few questions you should ask yourself. You can begin with our pastor’s question, “What were you saved from?” How has your life changed since you got saved? Have you let go of the things in your life that are not pleasing to God and exchanged them for those things that bring Him glory, honor and praise.
Do you have a burning passion to lead others to the Lord? Do you do your best to share God’s love with others? Do you have the peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7) so that others will see it and want what you have? Do you have joy even in difficult circumstances? Does your faith overcome your fear?
If you answered no to any of these questions, surrender your heart and soul to God before it’s too late. Trust in Him and obey Him. Love Him with your whole heart and mind.
What are you sowing into your life and into the lives of others? No one likes to be deceived. The worst kind of deception is when we deceive ourselves. If you have been deceiving yourself or listening to the lies of the devil, stop. Turn to Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). He is the one and only way to God the Father in heaven. Trust in Him.
God can’t be mocked, but you can be deceived. Stop being deceived. Turn to the truth found in Jesus.
Have a great day!
