Will you not revive us again so that Your people may rejoice in You? Psalm 85:6 HCSB
If I close the sky and there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 HCSB
You are probably reading this on either a computer whether it be a laptop, iPad or iPhone. You probably also rely on chargers to keep your devices up and running. We have chargers in our homes and chargers in our cars to assure that our batteries don’t go dead and we don’t lose use of our devices. If you are like me you charge up your device while you’re sleeping.
Well, we are a lot like these devices. Our batteries tend to run down. We need to be recharged. The source of our energy and strength and power is our Lord and Savior. We need to plug in regularly to be sure that we are charged up. The world can steal our energy, it can leave us feeling used up.
As Christians we call this revival. We all need revival from time to time. We need to be charged up in order to be fired up about Jesus. We need to want Him and eagerly seek Him and His will in our lives. So, I ask you today, are you charged up?
If you live in the Hammond, Louisiana area we are having revival at our church this week. It is at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, 11638 Hwy. 1064, Tickfaw La. 70466. It will be nightly at 6:30pm tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday night. The speaker is Brother Tim Norris from Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Pride, Louisiana. I encourage you to come and join us in being revived and recharged.
Everyday life is stressful. We have so much work to do in so little time, it can leave us feeling drained. But Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28 and 29 that we can come to Him when we are weary and find rest for our souls. Isaiah 40:31 tells us that those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not faint.
We all need revival. But as our pastor has been telling our congregation for the last few weeks, no pastor can bring revival. Revival starts in our hearts. We are revived when we come to Christ with open hearts and open minds, ready to receive Him. We are revived, when we call out to Him and ask Him to fill us with His Holy Spirit.
Are you tired and run down? Have you stepped away from God due to the hustle and bustle in your life? There is no better time to come back to Him. There is no better time to get recharged and to ask Him to renew your strength so that you can soar like an eagle and run and not grow weary. If you need to be recharged, all you have to do is ask. Turn to Him today and ask Him to renew a right spirit within you.
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), but we serve a loving God who wants us to come to Him, confess our sins and repent. David was a mighty man of God, but he too let his flesh get the best of him with Bathsheba. He had committed adultery and murder. In Psalm 51 he cries out to God to revive and restore his relationship with Him. Make his prayer your prayer today, in Psalm 51:10 David asks God to create a clean heart for him and renew a steadfast spirit within him. You can do the same today.
If you are running on empty, stop and recharge. Turn to God today. If we would all pray our scripture passages for today we could truly make America the great nation that it once was when it was founded on biblical principles. I invite you to join me in getting recharged and revived.
Have a great day!
