Now without faith, it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 HCSB
If you do nothing else this day, try to wrap your head around this scripture passage. Let’s break it down before we move on. First, do you want to please God? If so, you must have faith. Many of us claim to believe in God, but we lack faith. We claim to love the Lord, but we don’t trust in Him to take good care of us. The one who draws near to God must believe that He exists. Why would we draw near to someone if we didn’t believe they even existed? Why would we draw near to someone if it did not benefit us? Why would we draw near to God if there was nothing in it for us? And why would he reward you if you didn’t please Him?
So let’s say that you believe in God and you believe that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. This means that you believe that God rewards us for sticking close to Him and putting Him first. If this is the case you are off to a good start, but often times, this is where the devil likes to step in. The devil likes to question us like he did with Eve in Genesis 3:1-5. He likes to make us doubt what God really said. He likes to make us doubt that God will really do what He says He will do. Now the Bible tells us that the devil is a liar, the father of all lies, and that there is no truth in him in John 8:44. So, who are you going to believe?
In Jeremiah 29:11, we are told that God knows the plans He has for us, plans for our welfare and not for disaster, to give us a future and a hope. He goes on to say in verses 12-13 that when we call out to Him, He will listen to us. We will find Him when we seek for Him with wholeheartedly. Do you believe that, or are you calling God a liar? If you believe, then when trouble comes your way you won’t be grumbling and complaining, but will be praising God. If you believe, you won’t walk around with a chip on your shoulder, but you will have a smile on your face and a heart filled with the Holy Spirit. If you believe His word, you will be busy seeking the Lord with your whole heart.
Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. Do you believe that? If so, you won’t hit the panic button when things don’t go your way. You will understand God is working things out even when it seems to be the worst of circumstances. If so, you will trust that if you don’t get what you asked for it’s because God has something better planned for you. There was a time in my life when I was in a situation and begging for God to get me out of it. He helped me to see there was work for me to do in that situation and He was not going to release me until I did it. I got to work and He not only made my situation much more pleasant, but he paved the way for me to move on to something much better.
Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us to be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For it is the LORD your God who goes with you; He will not leave you or forsake you. Do you believe that? If you do, then you will live fearlessly knowing that God is beside you every step of the way, through the fire and the flood.
For many years of my life, I called God a liar. I thought that if a problem was just too big for me to fix, then it couldn’t be fixed. I spoke negativity into many situations in my life thinking it was hopeless. But, as I began to read my Bible and pray to Him. I realized that my only hope was in Him. I cried out to Him and He saved me.
I believe every word of my Bible. I trust in Him. I know He never lies. Titus 1:2 tells us that God cannot lie. Numbers 23:19 tells us God is not a man who lies. Hebrews 16:18 tells us it is impossible for God to lie. 1 Samuel 15:29 says God does not lie.
I spend time each day in His word and pray it back to Him when I talk to Him. I once called God a liar, but now I believe. For your sake and the sake of those who love you, I pray that you too believe in Him. He has proven Himself faithful to me time and time again and He will do the same for you.
Have a great day!
