But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NKJV
People buy lottery tickets in hopes of winning millions. Why? Well, the answer is simple. We believe that if we win millions of dollars, we will be able to buy all we will ever want and certainly have all we will ever need.
But things like lottery tickets, raffle tickets, and sweepstakes are games of chance. And there is a much better chance that we will lose. What if I told you there is, however, a way to always have all you will ever need?
My boss used to tell me to always be careful what you want because sometimes we get what we want and don’t have what we need. In Matthew 6, Jesus is talking about the things we need like clothes to wear and food to eat. He tells us in verse 34 not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Jesus never tells us there won’t be trouble and sorrows and worries in our lives. He does, however, tell us He will provide all we need. He tells us He will be with us wherever we go and whatever we go through. He will never leave nor forsake us.
I’m not here to tell you that if you surrender your life to Christ, you will be rich. I’m not here to tell you if you tithe regularly God will give you lots of money and riches. I will, however, tell you when you surrender your life to Christ and trust in Him and obey Him, He will provide all you need.
So, all we really need is Jesus. If we simply seek Him and put Him first in all we do, He will take good care of us. We are told in 2 Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”
David wrote in Psalm 23:1, The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. Paul wrote to the Philippians in 4:19, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
In Matthew 6 before Jesus told them to seek first the kingdom of God, He told them in verses 19-20 not to store up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But collect for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal.
He goes on to say in verse 21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
My friend if you have surrendered your life to Christ, then you have experienced the peace and joy that comes from living a life in Christ. You already know that in Him you have all you will ever need. You know He will take good care of you. He will supply your every need and will protect you.
If you have not experienced this and think it’s too good to be true, you’re right. It is too good, it’s so much more than we deserve, but it is true. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us that we might be saved and have eternal life with Him in heaven (John 3:16). When we accept Christ as our Savior and put Him first in our lives, He is all we need.
God wants to take good care of you. He waits with outstretched arms. He will never force you into the shelter He provides, but we are told in Psalm 91:1 that the one who chooses to live under the protection of the Most High will dwell in the shadow of the Almighty.
God wants to take good care of you. Turn to Him today. Trust in Him and obey Him, you may not get everything you want, but He will supply all you need.
Have a great day!
