“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.”
Romans 8:18 HCSB

Living in south Louisiana, one becomes used to bumps in the road. There are those small bumps from a newly formed pothole and then there are those potholes that look like a small fishing pond. We sometimes refer to those as craters. The trick is to go around these obstacles and try to avoid them. It would be wonderful if you could always avoid potholes, but sometime there is no way around, you just have to go through them.
People have various tactics for pushing through potholes. Some people take a great deal of care and drive ever so slowly through. Some people barrel through them, rattling the undercarriage of their car and probably their teeth to a point where you think one or both will come loose and fall out.
As Christians, our lives are much like that road filled with potholes. We may have a smooth stretch for a while, but eventually we will run up against a pothole. It may be small enough that we can simply go around it. It may be so large that we must go through it.
Whatever obstacles we may face, they are nothing compared to the glory that awaits us when we go to spend eternity with God our Father. Even if we live to be a hundred years old that is but a moment compared to eternity.
If you are on a bumpy road right now, just remember to let God guide you. Someday we will walk a street made of gold, when our troubles will be behind us, and only peace and goodness lie ahead.
So if things are a little rough right now, just be careful to let God guide you through the rough patches. For those of us who believe and trust in Him, he promises us a smooth ride ahead.
